Scored over C&D in a handicap (good) here by 4L a year ago and added another handicap success at Beverley last time (1m2f, good), from the same mark. Back in a seller (won one last season) and has decent claims.
Won this last year (good to firm) when trained by Richard Hannon. Likes to race prominently, which can work well on the round course here. Form has dipped recently but can't rule him out back at this track and in this grade.
13-race maiden under both codes. Couldn't give him much hope based on his form on the Flat/over hurdles in back half of last year, but if able to reproduce what he showed in the spring then he would have a squeak in this grade.
Went close when 40-1 on his seasonal reappearance in a Redcar handicap (1m2f, good to firm) last year. Well below that level in all six starts since and has a very tough task at these weights.
Yet to make the frame in 13 starts on turf and All Weather. Switched to this grade for the first time but is nigh on impossible to make a case for.
Has made the frame three times over 7½f-1m from 12 starts including in a Redcar seller (soft) in November. Dam won over this trip, so she may not be a write-off, but needs to step up on what we have seen.
Has looked very moderate in both runs, though the latest at Goodwood was an improvement on his Newbury debut. This step up in trip and faster ground are both potential positives; market check prudent on switch to this grade.
Showed promise last season, his best effort being over 6f at Thirsk (good) in a novices' contest in July. Yet to make an impact in nurseries/handicaps and pedigree suggests that he is far from certain to see out 1m2f.
Third on debut at Carlisle (6f, soft, beaten over 7L) in a novices' contest 11-months ago. Has not been competitive in handicaps over trips from 7f-1m4f and well beaten in a French claimer last time. Can be taken on again.
Forecasts
Rita's Man (7/4), Bow Street Runner (11/4), Super Major (4/1), Metronomic (5/1), Mister Moosah (14/1), Fabella Bere (25/1), Orientelle (33/1), Single Estate (50/1), Just Heather (66/1)
RITA'S MAN has winning experience at this track and arrives in good form. He should prove tough to beat while Metronomic, who won this last year, looks capable of being thereabouts again now back at a venue where his favoured front-running tactics suit. Mister Moosah can't be ruled out if he can get back to his form of this time last year, while Bow Street Runner would be interesting if supported, now dropped in grade and upped in trip.
- Rita's Man
- Metronomic
- Bow Street Runner
