Just 1-19 over hurdles although has placed eight times. Win came at Southwell in February selling handicap hurdle over 2m and not certain this longer trip is ideal. First time cheekpieces applied but others make more appeal.
Veteran gelding has won 10 races, but not scored since December 2015. First star for current handler and has raced almost exclusively at 2m though his long career. Doesn't obviously want further but yard in fine form so is respected.
Seven-race maiden but is still relatively unexposed at this trip and on decent ground. Yard has enjoyed a fine 12 months and horses still running well so worth checking for any market interest.
Given a good ride to win amateurs handicap hurdle at Sedgefield last time. 6lb higher now but clearly goes well for this rider so a follow-up win cannot be ruled out by any means.
10 races without success and is dropping in the weights as a result. First runner at the track for trainer and wasn't disgraced in bad ground last time at Taunton. One of the likelier outsiders.
Only win in 30 starts came in York 6f handicap for Richard Fahey. 0-11 over timber and hasn't done enough of late to suggest he's going to be a major player here.
Worth another try at this trip having only raced on soft ground over this far in the past. Hinted she might be running into form with fair effort last time, and rider's 5lb allowance does no harm either.
Ex-French maiden has shown precious little in four starts for current yard. Step up in trp may help but needs to turn over a new leaf to have any chance here.
24-race maiden has struggled to figure in both hurdles and chases in a very moderate career to date. Hopes rest on change of scene sparking his interest on debut for new yard but it's a slim hope.
15 career stars without success and has shown very little on last four outings. 3lb out of the handicap and is very hard to make a case for.
15lb wrong at the weights, this veteran was absent for four years before pulling up when well behind here in November. Looks to have little chance of figuring in the shake-up.
Forecasts
Bentons Lad (7/2), Alizee Javilex (4/1), Dormouse (9/2), Tiger Twenty Two (6/1), Doctor Thea (7/1), Stuccodor (10/1), Oologist (11/1), Falcos (14/1), Alchimix (28/1), Marbeth (66/1), Billy Teal (125/1)
There are a lot of disappointing horses in this contest but something has to win it and it might possibly be the mare ALIZEE JAVILEX who was noted pasing a few late on on her most recent start. Doctor Thea has done less wrong in his short career than most of his rivals and there may be some improvement from him, while old Dormouse runs for a new handler and if he stays could get involved. Bentons Lad is at least in form after winning at Segefield last time and should be there or thereabouts once again.
- Alizee Javilex
- Bentons Lad
- Doctor Thea
