Has shown some fair form in bumpers and over hurdles (won on his second start in that sphere) but any progress appears to have halted of late. Last run can be dismissed (failed to handle the heavy ground) and this quick surface will suit better.

Successful over fences and hurdles it's in the latter discipline that he's been in winning form of late scoring consecutive wins. Won very easily last time and it may take more than a 10lb penalty to stop him for an in-form yard.

Has gradually worked his way back down to a good mark having scored off 3lb higher at Sandown in early 2017. Not really shown much of late but those runs have come in better races than this and this better ground may help a more forward showing.

First run for this yard who do well with this type who is probably being primed for a summer campaign. Doesn't look especially well handicapped on his Irish form but hard to write off given the way this yard work.

His maiden hurdle fourth indicated that he was capable of winning in this sphere but he looks to have regressed since that effort. His two handicaps starts so far have come at 2m and it's possible that a return to this trip will help.

Yet to win a race over hurdles but hard to think that will remain the status quo given how well he travelled in a race at Kempton last time. Really caught the eye on that occasion and may just have lacked a recent outing; one to note.

Only won once on the Flat (with Marco Botti) but has run two nice races since joining this yard and going hurdling. Lacks the experience of some of these but his mark looks quite lenient and he's one to take seriously.

Still only has one decent effort over hurdles to his name which was a second in a maiden here around a year ago. Hard to be inspired by his two handicap efforts since and others make more appeal despite the falling mark.

Starts out life for a new stable having not really been able to show much of late. Well supported when last seen but as with a fair few of his recent races he dropped away tamely; best watched for now.

Forecasts

Ramore Will (2/1), Stole The Show (7/2), Zen Master (7/1), Monday Club (8/1), Pirate Look (8/1), Welluptoscratch (11/1), Present Destiny (12/1), Justification (16/1), Backinthesaddle (33/1)

Verdict

Ramore Will is in good form as is his trainer and he comes here with a good chance of completing a three-timer having won very easily at Kempton last time although life will be tougher under a 10lb higher mark. MONDAY CLUB travelled like the winner throughout his race last time and was perhaps just undone by lack of a recent run totally outrunning his large SP. The Newland stable are always to be respected here where they have a good record and although Stole The Show doesn’t look that well handicapped he’s just the type the stable do well with. Pirate Look is only lightly-raced over hurdles but he looks well weighted on his Flat form and he’s another who can make an impression.
  1. Monday Club
  2. Pirate Look
  3. Ramore Will
