9/1
Now 3lbs lower than his last winning mark but recent good efforts are thin on the ground. Heavy ground may not have been ideal latest and return to quicker conditions may suit but hard to be confident.
2
Horse silk
Atlantic Grey133
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-12| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: N & W Twiston-Davies| OR:  110

Placed twice over hurdles in the autumn but held in handicap company the last twice and pulled up at Wetherby (soft) in December on his most recent appearance.

Age: 5|  Weight: 11-12| J: Mr D Skehan(5)| T: Mrs S Leech| OR:  110| C

Winner over hurdles at here (2m, good) just over a year ago. Struggled in the main over hurdles since and returns to jumps following a couple of outings on the Flat recently.
4
Horse silk
Samson's Reach14
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-8| J: James Nixon(7)| T: R J Price| OR:  106| CD
6/1
Won over C&D two weeks ago when strong all the way to the line. Raised 6lbs for that but riders claim offsets most of the penalty and hard to ignore if in a similar mood.
5
Horse silk
Scented Lilyh43
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-7| J: Paul O'Brien(5)| T: C E Longsdon| OR:  105| BF
4/1
Well backed favourite for handicap debut at Market Rasen (2m4½f, good to soft) latest when appreciating the step up in trip. Raised 3lbs for that but goes up another furlong and plenty more to come.
6
Horse silk
Eau De Nile14
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-7| J: Andrew Tinkler| T: H D Daly| OR:  105
16/1
Held on all three starts over hurdles in novice company. Upped in trip for his handicap debut and fell at the first over C&D latest start.
7
Horse silk
Ayla's Emperorp163
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-6| J: R T Dunne| T: J L Flint| OR:  104
20/1
Was running pretty well off slightly higher mark at the back end of 2017. Has had a five month break and chances of going well if fit and ready.
8
Horse silk
St John's118
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-5| J: Adam Wedge| T: Evan Williams| OR:  103
25/1
Three similar moderate efforts over hurdles to date. Steps up in trip today for handicap debut and expected to do better.
9
Horse silk
Kerry's Boyt18
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-5| J: D A Jacob| T: B Pauling| OR:  103
14/1
Three runs in novice hurdles have been uninspiring and opening mark for handicap debut is a little harsh. Type to improve at some stage though now in handicaps.
10
Horse silk
Captain Simonp1162
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-4| J: Bridget Andrews(3)| T: D Skelton| OR:  102
3/1
Point-to-point and bumper winner (both on good ground) but has struggled over hurdles so far. Goes up in trip on decent ground for handicap debut on the back of a break. Cheekpieces added for yard that does well with this type and dangerous.
11
Horse silk
Red Admirablep,t43
Age: 12|  Weight: 11-2| J: Kielan Woods| T: D Killahena & G McPherson| OR:  100| D
11/1
Enjoying a lucrative campaign with a pair of class five contests in the bag. Needs to prove he remains capable off this mark and at this level.

Horse silk
Lincoln Countyb,t14
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-3| J: W T Kennedy| T: O Greenall & J Guerriero| OR:  87
12/1
Yet to show much since joining this yard and again well beaten over C&D last time. Similar story on the cards today.
13
Horse silk
Ring Eye42
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-0| J: R Patrick(5)| T: S-J Davies| OR:  76
50/1
Is on a dangerous mark but his best days seem behind him. Again has been too keen of late to do himself justice. Hard to fancy.

Forecasts

Captain Simon (3/1), Scented Lily (4/1), Samson's Reach (6/1), Atlantic Grey (8/1), Agincourt Reef (9/1), Red Admirable (11/1), Lincoln County (12/1), Kerry's Boy (14/1), Eau De Nile (16/1), Ayla's Emperor (20/1), Hazamar (22/1), St John's (25/1), Ring Eye (50/1)

Verdict

Scented Lilly made a bold bid on handicapped debut and is sure to go well again up another furlong. Agincourt Reef will appreciate a return to better ground. Samsons Reach won going away here over C&D two weeks ago and will be a danger to all if in a similar mood today. The selection though has to be CAPTAIN SIMON. He takes a step up in trip today for his handicap debut, the cheekpieces go on and Bridget Andrews claims a handy 3lb. His top yard do very well with this type and a market move would only increase confidence.
  1. Captain Simon
  2. Scented Lily
  3. Samson's Reach
