Rossamilan191
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-12| J: D R Fox| T: Miss Lucinda V Russell| OR:  100
11/1
Irish point-to-point winner who didn't cut the mustard in three novices' hurdles (all on heavy and over 2m). Upped in trip for handicap debut on his second start over fences under rules.
2
Horse silk
Tikkandemickeyp19
Age: 12|  Weight: 11-11| J: Callum Bewley(3)| T: R Shiels| OR:  99| CD
16/1
Veteran who has thrived on racing in the Tyne Valley in the past (Hexham and Carlisle). 8lb below his last winning mark in October 2016. Possibly sharper for a recent run.
3
Horse silk
Blakerigg41
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-10| J: Craig Nichol| T: N G Richards| OR:  98
7/1
Beaten just 1L by Doktor Glaz at Doncaster in January (2m3f soft), and whilst pulled up on his next start at Carlisle, he is lightly raced over fences, so merits close inspection in the market/paddock.
4
Horse silk
Sharney Sikep20
Age: 12|  Weight: 11-6| J: B S Hughes| T: W Coltherd| OR:  94| C| D
11/1
Handicapper cutting him some slack; now 21lb below his last winning mark in February 2015. Raced mainly on very deep ground all winter.
5
Horse silk
Dartford Warbler15
Age: 11|  Weight: 11-5| J: Sean Quinlan| T: J Parkinson & S Smith| OR:  93| D
12/1
Last win was in November 2015 and has largely been some way below that level of form since, so is now 19lb lower. Expensive to follow.
6
Horse silk
Dun Faw Good50
Age: 11|  Weight: 11-3| J: Finian O'Toole(3)| T: J Walton| OR:  91| C
15/2
Multiple winner in point-to-points (4 from 11), and off the mark at the 13th attempt under rules at Musselburgh in March (3m good to soft) beating Robins Legend by 1¾L. Raised 7lb.
7
Horse silk
Amuse Mep,t13
Age: 12|  Weight: 10-13| J: Aaron Anderson(7)| T: L Egerton| OR:  87| D
20/1
Below his best for James Moffatt in recent times, and sold for just £800 in January. Showed more verve latest when a plugging on 17L second to One Style at Market Rasen (2m5f gd/sft).
8
Horse silk
Miss Amelia43
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: Henry Brooke| T: M Walford| OR:  86
14/1
An eight race maiden (0 from 3 over fences), and looks of fairly limited ability. Fallen 12lb in the weights in her last three starts.
9
Horse silk
Apache Pilott13
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-12| J: S Mulqueen(3)| T: M A Barnes| OR:  86| CD
7/1
At his best on a sound surface at Hexham (2m4f to 3m), and will be winning races again sooner rather than later. In contention when running out at Market Rasen last month on his first start for nine months.
10
Horse silk
Shaiyzar180
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-11| J: Nathan Moscrop(5)| T: D Thompson| OR:  85
20/1
Yet to win over fences (0/13) he does look well handicapped on his hurdles form where he's won off a mark of 90. Off since early November when a 1¼L runner up to Dotties Dilemma (3m Southwell, good).
11
Horse silk
Miss Mackie12
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-10| J: Dale Irving(3)| T: R M Smith| OR:  84| C
8/1
Recorded her second career success last month; over 2m here, when keeping on strongly to deny Sky Full Of Stars by 2¼L. Raised a mere 4lb and up in trip so could have more too offer.
12
Horse silk
Avondhu Pearl22
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-10| J: Sam Coltherd(5)| T: W Coltherd| OR:  84
14/1
Now a nine race maiden under rules (1 from 3 in point-to-points). Lacked fluency at Sedgefield last month (2m5f heavy), so hard to build a solid case for her at present.
13
Horse silk
Cant Pay Wont Payp37
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-6| J: C O'Farrell| T: R Dobbin| OR:  80
9/1
Point-to-point and hunter chase winner who has flattered to deceive under rules. Could prosper for stronger handling switched back to fences from an easing mark, but generally unconvincing.
14
Horse silk
Scorpo20
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-5| J: Thomas Willmott(7)| T: V Thompson| OR:  79
80/1
In free-fall in the weights, but with recent form figures reading L,L,L,6,P,P, it's not difficult to understand exactly why. Not considered.
15
Horse silk
Court Painterp13
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-1| J: Thomas Dowson(3)| T: V Thompson| OR:  75| D
28/1
A 12 race maiden under rules, and unable to build upon a solid effort at Market Rasen in late March (jumped well) in a pair of subsequent starts.
16
Horse silk
Captain Sharpeb,t12
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-1| J: Harry Reed(5)| T: Kenny Johnson| OR:  75| C
25/1
Made his 100th career start when beaten 3½L by Frankie Ballou at Sedgefield in March, but he's hardly prolific and hasn't won since a Thomas Dowson masterclass over 3m here in May 2017.

Verdict

Maurice Barnes took this contest with No Such Number in 2017, and his APACHE PILOT is no stranger to spring/summer Hexham success. He was in the process of shaping well on his return from a break at Market Rasen recently when running out. Conditions will be very much in his favour tonight with a dry, bright, mild forecast ahead of racing, and he can set the ball rolling for a productive few months ahead at the expense of the likes of Blakerigg, Miss Mackie and Dun Faw Good.
  1. Apache Pilot
  2. Blakerigg
