Has been seen to better effect on the AW recently but generally acts on turf just as well. This field size likely to suit and ran better than the form figure suggests at this course on his last run of the previous turf season.
No win since September 2014, but looked like his turn could be near for much of last year and took a step in the right direction at Wolverhampton last time; not ruled out for a place.
Has his moments and down to a fair mark, but much of his best form is on a sounder surface than this.
Was running in Listed races at the beginning of last year, but has regressed quickly since and this mark looks far too high based on his recent form.
Already two runs on turf in 2018 in addition to an AW outing he was disqualified from. Step in the right direction when placing at Ripon last time and looks on a reasonable mark; one to consider.
Three efforts this campaign have all been solid. Just behind Quick Look at Ripon last time out and expected to be right in the mix once again.
Dual winner at three having won a maiden and then going on to strike on handicap debut. More needed off 4lb higher, though this respected apprentice takes off the majority of that with his claim.
Should handle conditions but far from the most prolific of winners and needs to improve on his last couple of runs from 2017.
Veteran who drew a blank last year. Has gone through quiet periods and bounced back before, but all his best form over 5f rather than this trip.
Ran a very good race at Leicester last time on heavy ground, so soft ground shouldn't be an issue. Mark looks fine and should be capable of running well again.
Always runs his race and not disgraced over 7f at Kempton last time. Drop back in distance shouldn't be an issue and the return to turf is in his favour.
Forecasts
Equitation (7/2), Ptarmigan Ridge (4/1), Bernardo O'Reilly (6/1), Quick Look (8/1), Watchable (9/1), George Bowen (9/1), Russian Realm (10/1), Boy In The Bar (12/1), Toofi (12/1), Private Matter (16/1), Singeur (33/1)
The lightly-raced EQUITATION is the one who appeals most here. Having had just three runs despite being a four-year-old, he has won two of those starts, including his handicap debut last time. He's obviously up in the weights for that win, but David Egan's 3lb claim cancels out most of that and he seems the type who could be open to further progression. Most of the others have questions to answer, but off a low weight Ptarmigan Ridge should go well, as should recent Ripon runner-up Quick Look.
