Not an easy sort to deal with (quirky) and took an age to win a race finally doing so last year at Catterick (7f, good); seen to good effect from the front. The majority of his AW starts this year have demonstrated how hard he is to win with.

Wide draw not a help here for this C&D (off 67) winner although that win came for her previous yard in 2016. Four runs so far this year on the AW she showed her best form last time in a non-handicap but that was still below the pick of her form.

Her two previous wins over 7f have been below-par and she comes here off a poor run over 6f at Thirsk on soft ground. Yet to win a handicap (has only won a maiden) and her overall record and the trip are two factors that are off-putting here.

Usually goes from the front and quite well drawn here to attack having twice won over C&D (last win came here off a 5lb lower mark). Returns from a break now off a mark he's never won off and may just need this; faces pace pressure.

Took advantage of a falling mark and the run of the race when scoring at Catterick (7f, soft) last autumn (shaped well enough after that). Needed the run on her return over the same C&D; may do better (awkward draw) still 5lb above last winning mark.

A falling mark and the application of a visor saw her win on the AW and then take this race last year. She also managed to add another win later in the year but has now risen above those winning marks. Looked to need the outing on her return.

Both his wins have come on the Fibresand looking as though he enjoyed the 7f trip last time (made all). Yet to win on turf and only placed once leaves doubts about his effectiveness here although he has won off this mark and is well drawn to attack.

Part of a big-priced double for the yard at Thirsk earlier in the week he bids to follow-up under a 6lb penalty under the same rider. Still looks well treated on his old form and will appreciate a strongly run race; third in this last year.

0/17 in his career and his two previous runs at 7f have been below-par and his latest well-backed effort did little to inspire (folded tamely). Usually goes forward but likely to face competition for the lead and hard to recommend.

Widest draw of all (stall 12) makes his task a stiff one especially as he's modest on turf (only win on the AW). Given his overall profile on turf others are far more persuasive.

Had an ideal pace scenario (held-up off a strong one) when scoring at Newcastle on her penultimate start the return to 7f suiting her. Run probably flattered her and she's 0/8 on turf (yet to be placed); more needed on this surface on her return.

Long time since he was winning a Sandown handicap off a mark of 88 and he's made little impact since 2015. Only eye-catching run since came on penultimate start (late 2017) when given a very tender ride over C&D to finish 6th; run poorly since.

Forecasts

Jacob Black (3/1), Harbour Patrol (3/1), Scotch Myst (5/1), Prazeres (7/1), Rebel State (12/1), Someone Exciting (12/1), Isntshesomething (14/1), Semana Santa (16/1), Lucky Violet (20/1), Riponian (22/1), Lotara (25/1), Vintage Dream (33/1)

Verdict

This should be run at a decent gallop with a few that like to go forward and that may lead to a scenario where one of the more conservatively ridden sorts can pick up the pieces. Scotch Myst made all to win last time and is well drawn to go forward again here but his best form so far has come on the AW and with Riponian and Prazares two others who are usually ridden prominently he won’t find life easy. Isntshesomething won this last year and could feature again along with Someone Exciting who shaped well last time out when needing the run. HARBOUR PATROL gets the call though after his Thirsk win earlier in the week with the race looking to be run to suit he should cope with a penalty.
