Steps back to the minimum trip having not run at this distance since July last year with her losing run starting to mount up. Found a Class 2 race too competitive last time having been tried at 7f of late; back down to her last winning mark.

A winner over C&D last summer off a 2lb higher mark that was his last win and he looked a little below-par on his return at Newmarket over 5f. It was hard to come from off the pace in that race though and he may do better here having had a run.

Offered little on his first run for this yard (previously with Kevin Ryan) when tried over 7f. Dropped back to 5f last time he was again below-par when outpaced and always behind with this losing run mounting up.

His turf win came in similar conditions last year at Windsor but off a 10lb lower mark although he did run with credit off higher marks after that including when winning on Tapeta. Below-par last time (race didn't pan out) and worth another shot.

First run for this yard who do well with their sprinters having previously been with Paul Cole. The run of the race didn't quite go for him on his last two starts on the AWand he does have a second over C&D to his name; off a handy mark here.

Verdict

An interesting little race with a MR POCKET now gelded and with a yard that does well with sprinters off a mark that he should be competitive off having run well when last seen. Rose Berry will find this far more suitable that the grade she ran in last time although 5f does look a little sharp these days. Liberatum can be forgiven his slightly disappointing effort last time and he comes into the equation based on his win the time before. Super Julius is the only C&D winner in the field and he’ll find this more suitable than a race that it was hard to get into last time at Newmarket.
  1. Mr Pocket
  2. Super Julius
  3. Liberatum
