Takes a huge step down in grade after trying his hand at Punchestown last week, winner at Kilbeggan last year but this mark still looks a bit on the high side and all his best form to date is on quicker ground. Others preferred.
Poor effort at Fairyhouse last time needs forgiving but was consistent before that, if hard to win with. Trip and likely ground both fine, but run of seconds means he's not one for maximum faith in.
Has won off a break before, so the absence isn't necessarily an issue, but his best form to date has come on a much sounder surface than he's likely to encounter today. Trip and track fine but others make more appeal all the same.
Mixes Flat with hurdles and fences, has won two chase starts to date but like a few here, seems to want quicker ground. Recent effort on the Flat will have blown the cobwebs away, but hard to fancy all the same.
Been in good form since the turn of the year and gained a deserved win for his efforts at Fairyhouse last time, 7lb rise means a career best is needed but may just be a late developer and with ground no issue, must be a likely player again.
Was in cracking form at the start of the calendar year, winning similar handicaps to today back-to-back (both in heavy ground) but two subsequent efforts suggest he's gone off the boil. Needs to bounce back now.
Hurdles winner at Limerick back in March 2017, not shown much in five chase starts but better last time and this is a more realistic task. Market support would make him more interesting too, and he's not to be ruled out lightly.
Outclassed at Punchestown last time out but this is more his level. Winner in heavy ground at Gowran Park in February but found life harder off new mark after, although step back up in trip could help. Chance, but comes with risks now.
On a really good chase mark on some of his efforts over hurdles (including a close fourth to the classy Total Recall) but hard to be confident about after some well below par efforts lately (when well backed). Very risky now.
Been in really good form over hurdles this spring, reverts to fences here and has won over them in similar conditions before, but could be that handicapper has his measure off this mark and he needs a bit more to score here.
Twice a winner over fences this year, and turned in a career best when winning at Cork a month ago, staying on well. Upped in trip here and new mark to contend with, so questions to answer, but in good heart and not discounted.

Forecasts
Spancil Hill (7/2), Flemenstorm (4/1), Fairly Legal (5/1), Tongie (9/1), Shrewdoperator (9/1), Fire In His Eyes (9/1), Fit To Be Tied (10/1), Newsworthy (12/1), Attalco (14/1), Usa (20/1), Blue Empyrean (20/1), Snugsborough Benny (22/1)
If the market spoke in favour of Fit To Be Tied then he would have to be looked at seriously, as at some stage he's likely to improve plenty, but for the time being preference is for FLEMENSTORM, who has hit a purple patch of form and with conditions ideal here, can defy his latest weight rise. Shrewdoperator is another that hit paydirt last time and if getting this longer trip, wouldn't be without hope fo following up.
- Flemenstorm
- Fit To Be Tied
- Shrewdoperator
