Plenty to like about how he won a similar race at Lingfield (1m, AW) last time (with favourite/second favourite second and third) and he shapes as though he will see out this sort of trip, so he looks a leading player despite a penalty.

Won one of these on debut at Ayr (7f, good) in August and was not far off that form over 1m at York next time. Freshness not an issue and likely that she will get this longer trip, while cheek pieces could provide a boost. Considered.
First foal. Dam unplaced 7½f-1m2½f, half-sister to 5f-7½f winner Oor Jock out of 5½f-1m1f GB/US winner (inc 1m-1m1f Grade 2). Probably one to check out in the market for any confidence ahead of a tough enough debut task.

Didn't achieve much in three runs at around 7½f last season and this step up in trip does not look ideal on pedigree. Watching brief advised.

100-1 on debut and after a slow start, she was not completely devoid of promise before an eventual 6¾L defeat at Wolverhampton (1m1½f, AW). Can improve on that and not ruled out of the prize money.

Fourth foal. Closely related to 1m4f winner Galapiat and half-sister to two winners (1m2f and 1m4f), out of 7f-1m3f winner (inc. German Group 1). Has pedigree to make a nice filly and in good hands. Good debut possible.

Has so far looked mediocre in two starts over 7f/1m on the AW and will need a lot of improvement of that to figure here on her turf debut.

Forecasts

Francophilia (15/8), Key Player (5/2), Jimmy Geronimo (5/1), Salazar (5/1), Dance Legend (8/1), Universal Gleam (10/1), Cum Spiro Spero (28/1), Stay In The Light (33/1)

Verdict

Not a lot of strength-in-depth to this contest where Francophilia is an interesting newcomer whose pedigree suggests we should take her seriously over this sort of trip, though the recent winning experience of KEY PLAYER might count for plenty in the outcome here and he is taken to defy a penalty and follow up. Salazar and Dance Legend can battle out the minors.
  1. Key Player
  2. Francophilia
  3. Salazar
