Took a bumper on his debut last year overcoming being held-up in a slowly-run race. Failed to build on that winning debut though in similar circumstances (failed to settle) and now returns after a break in a first time hood.
Already operated on for his wind when he made his debut and showed very little. Now makes his second start with little expected.
Plenty of stamina in the pedigree having been bought for €22,000 as a three-year-old. Yard are 0/6 in bumpers in the last five years and he would be a surprise winner.
Failed to make the track before now despite having quite a decent pedigree (cost 190,000 guineas as a yearling). Despite his pedigree he's probably best watched with the yard not having saddled a bumper winner in last five years (0/25).
First run for a new yard having made a promising start to his career when runner-up in an Ayr bumper for Donald Whillans. Form has yet to be tested by the principals but he's joined a yard doing well in this sphere.
Well backed on his debut at Towcester he proved to be a disappointment weakening quickly in the closing stages. More than likely to have come on for that run but more needed to be worthy of support here.
Showed plenty of promise on his debut at Southwell when finishing in the runner-up slot and that form has worked out well. Disappointing therefore not to see him justify favouritism next time out although not ideally placed in the contest.
Twice placed in Irish point-to-points he looks a likely sort to run well for a yard which are always to be respected in this sphere.
His form so far in three runs has looked rather ordinary and it's not hard to look for other options given how easily he was beaten last time.
Yard are already enjoying a good meeting and he looks a likely sort on pedigree which contains plenty of bumper winners. No surprise to see him strong in the market here and adding to the yard's 18% strike-rate in bumpers this year.
His brother Nefyn Bay has had a good season and if he shares his ability he's likely to make his presence felt here. Yard are bubbling along nicely in bumpers this season (22% strike-rate) and he's worth noting in the market.
Her debut at Newcastle was only a modest one and she provided no threat. Tongue-tie now employed for her second start with little expected.
A faller on her debut in an Irish point-to-point recently she now makes her bumper debut and has to be respected from a yard that have always performed well in this sphere. Jockey booking takes the eye and any support worth noting.
Forecasts
Jarveys Plate (9/4), Imperial Acolyte (7/2), Doctor Dex (5/1), Bluefortytwo (7/1), Big Chunky (12/1), Retrace (12/1), Discko Des Plages (14/1), Emissaire (22/1), Black N Blue (25/1), Nefyn Point (33/1), Mon Ami Bob (33/1), Accost (66/1), Amarone Gentleman (100/1)
This looks a fairly decent bumper with a nice mix of newcomers from well respected bumper yards and a few that have already shown their ability. Doctor Dex needs to bounce back from a poor run last time but has to be given a chance on his debut run while Bluefortytwo now running for the Ewart team won’t be far away if he repeats his Ayr debut. The debutantes look a strong bunch though and IMPERIAL ACOLYTE is taken to make a wining debut for the Twiston-Davies yard who have had a good meeting so far. Jarveys Plate is another making his debut who comes from a yard that have to be respected in this sphere with Retrace and Nefyn Point two others to note in the market.
- Imperial Acolyte
- Bluefortytwo
- Jarveys Plate
