Well held on both starts so far including on hurdling debut earlier this month. Probably best watched on this occasion.

Beaten 96L into fifth when making his racecourse debut in a novice hurdle over 3m at Southwell (good) last October. Others make more appeal.

Placed three times over hurdles for Dan Skelton including over C&D 13 months ago. Below par the last twice however and debuts for a new yard in this.

Placed in a maiden hurdle at Wetherby (2m, soft) in November 2016 but absent thereafter until finishing held over an extended 2m3f at Ascot (soft) last month. Interesting to see how he fares in this.
Point-to-point winner in April 2015 and placed in that sphere since. Had a wind operation since pulling up on debut for this yard at Exeter in November.

Finished a close fourth in an AW bumper at Lingfield in December and placed on hurdling debut at Doncaster (good-to-soft) subsequently. One for the shortlist stepping up in trip.

Point-to-point winner in March last year but struggled in three outings under rules. Better ground forecast in this favour on this occasion however.
Decent fourth in a Sandown (good-to-soft) bumper in November but disappointed in two hurdles starts including when pulled up over C&D last month.
Placed in a couple of point-to-points and a bumper at Sedgefield so far. Well beaten on debut for this yard in a maiden hurdle last time out however.

Fair efforts in a couple of bumpers so far this year. Beaten 20L into eighth in a big field at Huntingdon last time and making his hurdling debut in this.

Caught the eye when staying on over this trip on good-to-soft ground at Doncaster in early December. Has had a wind operation since and is one to note in this contest.

Three time winner on the Flat and placed off a mark of 113 at Haydock (2m3f, soft) on his penultimate outing. Interesting to see how he fares in this.

Horse silk
10/3
Promising debut at Ascot (good-to-soft) in November but well held on heavy ground at Exeter subsequently. Return to good-to-soft ground forecast for this contest should see him in a better light.
15
Horse silk
100/1
Point-to-point winner at Necarne (yielding) in May last year but well beaten on hurdling debut a month ago and more needed if she's to register a victory here.
16
Horse silk
250/1
Recorded her first completion over hurdles when beaten 37L at Kempton (2m, soft) earlier this month. Others have a more obvious chance in this contest.

Tailed off when making her debut in a bumper at Towcester (good-to-soft) in December and probably best watched on hurdling debut.

Forecasts

Mystical Clouds (2/1), Turangi (10/3), Earlshill (11/2), Subcontinent (8/1), Indirocco (8/1), Stormy Milan (11/1), Judge John Deed (20/1), Sammylou (33/1), Scottshill (40/1), Schap (66/1), Cojack (66/1), Braddan Head (80/1), Gortnagirl (100/1), Powerstown Park (100/1), Future Boy (100/1), Sharp Getaway (100/1), The Lawley (200/1), Her Dream (250/1)

Verdict

MYSTICAL CLOUDS shaped as if this step up in trip would suit when finishing third on hurdling debut and he can take this opening contest for Alan King. The selection has form on the forecast good-to-soft going and can see off Stormy Milan who has had wind surgery since his Doncaster effort in early December. The going was against Turangi last time out and he is taken to finish third with underfoot conditions likely to be more to his liking for this.
  1. Mystical Clouds
  2. Stormy Milan
  3. Turangi
