Age: 8|  Weight: 11-12| J: R Patrick(5)| T: Kerry Lee| OR:  125| C
7/1
Runner-up at this fixture 12 months ago but has plenty to find with Chapel Stile on recent running. Goes well here though and capable of improvement on quicker ground.
2
Horse silk
Bob Mahlerp22
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-11| J: R Johnson| T: W Greatrex| OR:  124| D
6/1
Made heavy weather of opening his account last time and likely to be ridden with more restraint this time. Some of his novice form makes him look attractively weighted but his wayward tendencies are a worry.
3
Horse silk
Board Of Trade73
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-9| J: Wayne Hutchinson| T: A King| OR:  122
9/1
Looks attractively weighted at present judged on his novice form. Missed the whole of last season and February's return will have pleased connections.
4
Horse silk
Chapel Stile27
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-9| J: R D Day(3)| T: N G Richards| OR:  122| D
10/1
Has won his last two races despite looking green and backward. Up another 10lb but appears to have the potential to take it in his stride.
5

Quick Pick28
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-8| J: Sean Quinlan| T: J Candlish| OR:  121| BF| D
10/1
Has won a couple of minor races over 2m4f this term but last run suggested he was worth a try at this trip.

Age: 6|  Weight: 11-8| J: R P McLernon| T: J & A O'Neill| OR:  121| BF
16/1
Winner of a poor race at Huntingdon on Boxing Day for which he was overpenalised and remains so. Needs to improve considerably for the longer trip.
7
Horse silk
Forgetthesmalltalk118
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-6| J: Thomas Bellamy| T: A King| OR:  119| BF| D
7/1
Has been going up the weights without winning and is now asked to take on better company. Lightly raced and progressive, but this may be asking too much.
8
Horse silk
Set Listp278
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-6| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| OR:  119| DWS
12/1
Has not run over hurdles since 2015 but he has made progress over fences since which is not reflected in this hurdling mark. Debuts for yard who do well with recruits from other yards so one to keep on the right side.
9
Horse silk
Strong Economy42
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-5| J: B S Hughes| T: R M Smith| OR:  118| C
25/1
Down the field at this fixture 12 months ago and, although he goes well around here, he would prefer it much softer.
10
Horse silk
Letemgo13
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-4| J: Ross Chapman(3)| T: A B Hamilton| OR:  117| CD
50/1
Winner of three lower grade races this winter. That has resulted in a significant hike in the weights and his latest race has shown the handicapper has his measure at present.

Horse silk
Robinroyale364
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-4| J: Daniel Sansom(5)| T: J W Mullins| OR:  117| DWS
7/1
Off since his third to Beer Goggles in this last year when confirming he is much better on quicker ground. Has undergone wind surgery since and can go well fresh.
12
Horse silk
Carlton Ryanp12
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-1| J: Mr William Easterby(7)| T: M & D Easterby| OR:  114| BF| D
16/1
Recently switched to hurdles and has not yet had the pace he needs to get competitive. Should get that here and no forlorn hope.
13
Horse silk
Benny's Secreth109
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-13| J: Lucy Alexander| T: N W Alexander| OR:  112| C
40/1
Seems a much better horse at Kelso although he won his bumper here. This mark may be stretching him.
14
Horse silk
General Mahlert20
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-11| J: Henry Brooke| T: B Ellison| OR:  110
16/1
Sole success came two years ago on soft ground and his best recent efforts have been on more testing ground than seems likely here. Back over hurdles and he may find many of these too quick.
15
Horse silk
Le Drapeau60
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-10| J: Danny Cook| T: J Parkinson & S Smith| OR:  109
16/1
Lightly raced sort who is a potential improver over this trip. Few miles on the clock and capable of finding the improvement necessary in order to take this.
16
Horse silk
Jack Devinev167
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-9| J: Craig Nichol| T: R Dobbin| OR:  108| D
25/1
The market clearly expected better last time when he looked an awkward ride. Has underachieved for a triple point-to-point winner and maybe the visor will help.

Horse silk
Judge Earle57
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-9| J: Liam Quinlan(7)| T: R A Fahey| OR:  108
33/1
Won his bumper on good ground and it seemed he would soon be opening his account over hurdles following his promising run in October. Has clearly not been right since and he looks the type to find a handicap on decent ground before long.

Horse silk
Boogie Life35
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-0| J: S Bowen| T: J S Goldie| OR:  94
50/1
Stable have done well in this previously but this mare is out of the handicap and needing to improve considerably on recent efforts.

Forecasts

Bob Mahler (6/1), King Of Fashion (7/1), Robinroyale (7/1), Forgetthesmalltalk (7/1), Board Of Trade (9/1), Chapel Stile (10/1), Quick Pick (10/1), Set List (12/1), General Mahler (16/1), Le Drapeau (16/1), Cloth Cap (16/1), Carlton Ryan (16/1), Jack Devine (25/1), Strong Economy (25/1), Judge Earle (33/1), Benny's Secret (40/1), Letemgo (50/1), Boogie Life (50/1)

Verdict

Robinroyale ran well in this last year and with conditions in his favour he may give another good account if ready for his seasonal debut. Judge Earle and Carlton Ryan appeal as being potentially well-handicapped, whilst Chapel Stile may have the scope to defy the handicapper again. SET LIST has switched to Dan Skelton's yard and we have seen that he is adept at rejuvenating this type in the past. In fact he probably has more to work with this time as he has clearly improved since his last run over hurdles and if wind surgery has helped he may surprise a few.
