Scored here over 2m½f (good to soft) from 3lb lower in November but has been unable to reach that level from 1lb higher than today in two hurdles runs since. Last seen in AW Flat contests and needs to get back on track.
Won over 2m½f (good) here in October in a maiden hurdle. Took a few starts in handicaps to make an impact but did so last time when a neck second at Towcester (2m3f, soft) last month. 6lb rise for that and blinkers now fitted but has claims.
Showed useful level of form at the start of his career in 2015. Only had three runs since then and would have a chance from this mark based on his Ascot effort (2m3½f, soft) from February, though out of sorts again last time and has a bit to prove.
Showed a bit of improve in late summer/autumn last year, making the frame at Stratford (twice) and Southwell. Unable to repeat that form in two subsequent starts and perhaps best watched on this occasion.
Has not had much of a break since the middle of last season but appears to be taking his racing well enough as shown when scoring over C&D (soft) in February from 5lb lower. Well held last time and needs to pull out more to win from this mark.
Goes well on testing ground and broke her British duck last time in a mares' handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (2m4½f, soft) when the front pair were 7L clear. Raised 7lb for that improved effort and a follow-up success cannot be ruled out.
Has shown bits and pieces of promise in bumpers and over hurdles without winning but could not make an impact on his handicap debut at Huntingdon last time, following a wind op. Cheekpieces now fitted and drops 3lb but has it to do.
Ran well enough on Kempton's Polytrack (2m) in the other code last month, though this mark looks stiff enough on what we have seen from him over hurdles so far. Likely to need significant improvement to figure.
Nine of his 10 hurdles starts have been here and he has been placed in three of those, though none over as far as this. Yet to race on soft ground and has plenty to prove on his first start for 16-months.
Forecasts
Zen Master (3/1), Potters Hedger (7/2), Chandos Belle (4/1), Krugermac (5/1), Reckless Behavior (8/1), Towering (12/1), Unblinking (16/1), Mr Snoozy (20/1), Tiger Twenty Two (50/1)
Modest fayre where the suggestion is ZEN MASTER, who hinted at Towcester last time that a first handicap success may not be long in coming and first-time blinkers may be able to help tip the scales in his favour. Chandos Belle has to be taken seriously after her Huntingdon win, while Mr Snoozy, Krugermac and Towering could all have a say if running to the best of their ability.
- Zen Master
- Chandos Belle
- Krugermac
