First run for this yard having previously been with David Simcock. Has good form over this trip including on the AW, though having to concede weight to all but one of his rivals is a slight concern.

Has been running over further than this but handles this trip just fine as well as the AW. Should be going very close here based on official ratings and first-time blinkers may be an additional help.

Some fair form for Marco Botti at first but has had an interrupted career since and looks set for a minor role given his recent poor showing in a Chelmsford claimer.

9/4
Dual Group 1 winner at his best, and though he is clearly a way below that level these days he ran fairly well in level-weights affairs last summer (including at the very top level); this is easier.

Only previous AW victory came over this C&D (out of seven attempts), but needs to step up on recent efforts in order to play a part here.

Forecasts

Double Up (2/1), Goldream (9/4), Doctor Sardonicus (3/1), Robot Boy (6/1), Wolowitz (10/1), Golden Steps (25/1)

Verdict

Goldream holds obvious claims not only on his best form but at a little way below that, though he isn't one to rely on these days and preference is for DOUBLE UP. Roger Varian's charge has been running over further than this recently but also has form over this trip, and has the proven class (as shown by the official ratings) and AW form to go very close here. The addition of blinkers is also no bad thing. Doctor Sardonicus also can't be ruled out on his first run for Tom Dascombe.
  1. Double Up
  2. Goldream
  3. Doctor Sardonicus
