Good record of three wins and four placings from eight AW starts. Scored over C&D on Monday and has to enter calculations under a 6lb penalty.

Three runs since joining current yard from Andre Fabre and the latest of them saw him finish second of 12 in a decent race at Doncaster last month. Reverts to the AW off 3lb higher, but seems to be getting his act together and is a threat.

Back to winning ways at this track in February, and was by no means disgraced off 3lb higher at Kempton last time. In good heart, but has never won over this slightly longer trip.

Winner over hurdles and on turf and the AW on the Flat.. Out of his depth in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham on his latest outing and is back to much calmer waters in this contest.

Second run for current trainer saw him finish a creditable third of seven to Arlecchino's Leap at Chelmsford. Gets a 10lb pull for a 2L beating and has every chance of turning the tables.

Back on song at Lingfield in January, but went up 8lb and was well held on latest outing at Chelmsford last month. Down 1lb, but still looks to have plenty on his plate.

Not getting any younger, but has enjoyed a decent career which includes nine victories on the Flat, six of them on the AW. Recent efforts have not been encouraging, however.

Forecasts

Seven Clans (15/8), Stonific (11/4), Derek Duval (10/3), Arlecchino's Leap (5/1), Roman De Brut (8/1), Broughtons Story (9/1), Saxo Jack (20/1), Spes Nostra (66/1)

Verdict

Seven Clans is of obvious interest under his penalty and Arlecchino's Leap has to be respected chasing a four-timer. However, the latter has plenty to do to confirm Chelmsford form with ROMAN DE BRUT who is taken to prevail under these revised terms. Stonific looks a danger after an improved effort last time.
  1. Roman De Brut
  2. Seven Clans
  3. Arlecchino's Leap
