Only five starts as a two-year-old and bits and pieces of promise. Yard do well with these sprinting types as they mature and no surprise to see him fair better at some point.

Conversant149

Just four starts last season and shown a similar level of ability in all. Switch to a yard that does well with their recruits from elsewhere and starts life in handicaps off a fair mark. Blinkers left off this time.

Billiebrookedit173
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-4| J: Toby Eley(7)| T: Steph Hollinshead| OR:  62
Not sure the opening mark of 71 was justified and has quickly dropped down to 62. Seemed to appreciate give in the ground so conditions should be no problem but needs a good jolt of improvement to win this.

G Eye Joeb124
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-1| J: Barry McHugh| T: J G Given| OR:  59
Behind Mabo (runs 4.55) when fourth at Newcastle (7f, AW) latest. Had previously been slowly away. Blinkers go on for the first time today in an effort to bring about a bit more but solid form claims.

Mecca's Spirit174
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-0| J: Callum Rodriguez(3)| T: M Dods| OR:  58
Starting to look an expensive purchase (120,000 gns) having been well beaten on handicap debut at Newcastle (7f,AW) back in October off a mark of 61. Down another 3lbs today and needs to improve to take a hand in this.

Nalaini53
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-0| J: K Stott| T: D Carroll| OR:  58
Showed little first two starts but much better over C&D last time out, showing bright speed until fading last 200 yards. Given a fair mark to work from and yard know the time of day, so market needs a check at the very least.

Spanish Mane121
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-13| J: P Hanagan| T: R A Fahey| OR:  57
€30,000 yearling by Havana Gold is a half-sister to eight winners most of which have been sprinters. Handicap debut today off a lowly mark and possible she can improve.

Erastus215
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-7| J: Nathan Evans| T: Mrs R Carr| OR:  51
Has really shown very little to date and will need to have improved over the winter to take a hand today. Still early days though so not impossible.

Forecasts

G Eye Joe (3/1), Conversant (4/1), Nalaini (4/1), Spanish Mane (13/2), Tember (7/1), Billiebrookedit (8/1), Mecca's Spirit (12/1), Erastus (12/1)

Verdict

A low grade handicap to finish the card but several have potential improvement in them. Connections of G Eye Joe will be hoping the blinkers have a positive effect. Mecca's Spirit and Nalaini could both prove better than their current marks. The selection to come out on top is CONVERSANT. David O'Meara does well with his recruits from other yards and he has found a good opening here for the son of Zebedee.
  1. Conversant
  2. Mecca's Spirit
  3. G Eye Joe
