1
Horse silk
Old Salt39
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-12| J: Conor Ring(3)| T: Evan Williams| OR:  110
Soft ground hurdles winner who showed glimpses of promise over fences either side of Christmas but took a step backwards when jumping poorly at Huntingdon last time. Mark looks fair if getting his act together.
2
Horse silk
Square Vivianip113
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-12| J: Finian O'Toole(3)| T: Micky Hammond| OR:  110
Won four chases and a hurdle in France but lost his way a bit and hitherto underwhelming in two chase starts for current connections, beaten 19L behind Allmyown at Wetherby (2m5f, heavy) latest. Cheekpieces applied now.
3
Horse silk
Zayfire Aramis53
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-10| J: Benjamin Poste| T: M Scudamore| OR:  108
Twice a winner over fences including over 2m4f at Leicester (soft) in January and managed to finish a 3L third at Huntingdon from a revised mark despite a laboured round of jumping. No surprise to see him in the mix today.
4
Horse silk
Iskabeg Lane16
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-7| J: Danny Cook| T: J Parkinson & S Smith| OR:  105| BF| CD
Opend his chase account at the second attempt when winning over C&D (good to soft) in December. Solid form since and would probably have won here again last month but for a late fall. Abject latest display at Uttoxeter just tempers enthusiasm.
5
Horse silk
Royals And Rebelsb,t28
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-7| J: Harry Bannister| T: C J Mann| OR:  105
Fair but inconsistent handicap chaser who twice won over 3m at Plumpton last spring on better ground. Badly lost his way after that but not beaten far in two recent soft ground chases and comes here with every chance.
6
Horse silk
Court Painterp7
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-0| J: Thomas Dowson(3)| T: V Thompson| OR:  66
Won a lone point-to-point a couple of years ago but his form under rules has been poor, though he produced a much-improved display to finish third behind Bocasien Desbois over C&D (good to soft) last week. Long way out of the handicap.

Forecasts

Zayfire Aramis (7/4), Iskabeg Lane (7/2), Square Viviani (4/1), Royals And Rebels (4/1), Old Salt (8/1), Court Painter (25/1)

Verdict

Another trappy contest featuring some erratic types in which ROYALS AND REBELS makes most appeal with the Charlie Mann yard going so well. The gelding came good around this time last year when scoring twice at Plumpton and he showed enough over a longer trip at Southwell last time to suggest a return to winning ways could be imminent. Iskabeg Lane goes well here and, providing his poor effort at Uttoxeter last time was just a blip, he rates a threat alongside Zayfire Aramis.
  1. Royals And Rebels
  2. Zayfire Aramis
  3. Iskabeg Lane
