Winner at Kempton last May on good ground, he's rated 6lb higher now. Has run well enough in two starts since, including second at Market Rasen in December. Now a teenager, he's not ruled out with headgear back on.

Two wins this season, including over C&D, and mostly a consistent performer. Unseated for the second time in six run at Chepstow latest (saddle slipped first time). Should have a run in him from this mark however.

Maiden over hurdles but going right way in two starts over fences, posting runner-up finish at Southwell in February over similar trip on soft ground. Runs from same mark and chance of more to come.

Best efforts have come at Lingfield (remote third there last month over longer trip) and must jump better to lay down any challenge on first visit here. Drop in trip looks to be in his favour.

Normally a safe and steady jumper whose best form in this country has come in the spring. Second at Towcester (2m, soft) in February, he's on a nice mark if able to build on that effort going up in trip.

Kostaquartap,t24
Age: 11|  Weight: 10-0| J: Tom Cheesman(5)| T: Mark Gillard| OR:  68
12/1
Very moderate performer who is yet to make the frame in any race under rules and whose point-to-points successes were all on good/fast ground. 3lb out of the handicap here and doesn't appeal.

Forecasts

Finnegan's Garden (2/1), Champion Chase (11/4), Touch Screen (9/2), Iona Days (11/2), Heurtevent (10/1), Kostaquarta (12/1)

Verdict

The teenager Iona Days isn't readily dismissed having finished second at Market Rasen in December but this might go the way of the younger generation. Finnegan's Garden has C&D winning form and should be involved if the accidents are avoided but CHAMPION CHASE already looks better over fences than he was hurdling. He was second off this mark at Southwell last time and is capable of opening his account soon.
  1. Champion Chase
  2. Finnegan's Garden
  3. Iona Days
