His sole success came over this trip in a Navan maiden (y/soft) in 2016. Has largely been campaigned over further since then. Now 14lb lower than when running well over 6f/7f in Ireland last summer, though plenty to prove on recent evidence.
5f specialist who goes on this ground and was back to form in latter half of last season. Scored in this grade from 5lb lower at Beverley and probably fair to forgive him a poor effort here when last seen in October. Not won when fresh since 2013.
Goes well on this ground and has run some good races in defeat from this mark. Should strip fitter for a recent AW run and if so, he has to be seriously considered.
1-24, his sole win being in an Ayr handicap (7f) in May from 2lb higher. Has been kept busy on the All Weather in the winter and went well from this mark at Newcastle last time. Entitled to consideration, particularly for each-way players.
Won two of her first three starts for this trainer, both over C&D on soft ground, the latter from this mark. Was not at that level in her two most recent runs, which has to be a concern but now on her last winning mark she has to be taken seriously.
Veteran whose last win came over C&D (good) in July when 7lb higher. Handicapper has relented reasonably quickly after a run of six defeats and gives him a chance again here, though he has never won first time out.
Scored at Leicester (6f, soft) in August on first start for this trainer and fro 4lb lower. Ran well in defeat several times after that and now returns from winter break. On a competitive mark and if ready first time he has each-way claims.
All three of his wins have been on fast ground and his form on ground on the soft side of good is has been nothing like as good, although three of those runs were immediately before wind surgery. On a handy mark if that proves beneficial.
Acts on this ground, though arguably better when it is good or faster. 11lb lower today than when last winning at Ripon 11-months ago but record suggests that he will need this and is possibly one to watch with next time in mind.
Forecasts
Tommy G (11/4), Geoff Potts (3/1), Jacob's Pillow (5/1), Imagine If (7/1), Foxtrot Knight (9/1), Laughton (10/1), Economic Crisis (14/1), Silvanus (14/1), One Boy (25/1)
Economic Crisis lost her way a bit in recent runs but she is back on her last winning mark and with a claimer up, so she makes the short-list at a track she likes. However, JACOB'S PILLOW has conditions to suit and has also proved to be very competitive from this mark. Rebecca Bastiman's seven-year-old should be spot on for this after an All Weather spin and is preferred. Geoff Potts, Tommy G and Laughton can all have some sort of case made for them finishing among the prizes.
- Jacob's Pillow
- Economic Crisis
- Laughton
