Prolific winning sprinter who has scored at Listed level and whose latest success came in a Newcastle conditions contest (5f, AW) In January. Penalised in this contest, but still makes his debut for Mick Appleby with a live chance.
Goes well here with two C&D wins to his name and handles softer conditions well. Was last seen scoring here in September, has won before when fresh and is favoured by the weights here, so looks set to go close.
Former Group 3 winner in Ireland in 2015, but has not been able to add to that success. Was beaten 1¾L by Caspian Prince at Newcastle in January and is now 4lb better off with him. Has each-way claims on that basis, especially if cheek pieces work.
Won this race last year (good to firm) when fresh and added back-to-back wins later in the campaign at Doncaster (good) and York (good to soft). Can certainly be given a chance based on his Beverley Bullet run in September and not ruled out.
Goes on this ground and is a 5f specialist. Scored when fresh last spring at Nottingham in a similar contest, though could not add to that as the season unfolded. Returns freshened up again and has a decent chance at these weights if ready.
Won the Scottish Sprint Cup here over C&D in June and followed up at Newcastle (5f, AW). Went close in a similar race to this at Beverley in September, though not as effective in three recent AW runs. Each-way claims if he can get back to peak form.
Handles cut in the ground and scored from a 2lb higher mark in a Newcastle handicap (5f, AW) in January. Looks high enough in the handicap based on his turf form going in to this, so will need improvement to figure.
Has three C&D wins to his name at lower levels than this contest and all on good/fast ground. Looks up against it at these weights despite his love of the place.
Has a solid CV at lower levels than this but is without a win since his maiden at Brighton in 2015. Makes seasonal/stable debut today and looks to have a tough job on his hands.
Forecasts
Alpha Delphini (9/4), Kyllang Rock (10/3), Caspian Prince (10/3), Blue De Vega (13/2), Line Of Reason (12/1), Taexali (16/1), Desert Law (18/1), Memories Galore (25/1), Royal Brave (40/1)
ALPHA DELPHINI is well treated at the weights going into this and he is taken to score with the ground also to his liking. Caspian Prince has a squeak but also a bit to find at the weights, while Blue De Vega, Desert Law and Kyllang Rock are all of interest.
- Alpha Delphini
