Improved a little for the step up to 3m last time, as you might expect from one that's a point-to-point winner, and won't mind the predicted rain either. Place chances at worst if taking another step forward here.
Sent off huge prices all starts and done nothing to suggest he's up to troubling the best of these. Hooded today, but still makes next to no appeal.
Has run to a good level on both starts so far, and this step up to 3m may well suit on both breeding and what the eye has told you so far, but didn't look the easiest of rides under pressure last time and may have his own ideas.
Hadn't shown much before his third in a Punchestown bumper last year, quietly fancied to go well on hurdles debut at Chepstow but disappointed and not seen since (October). Suspicion is he's better than that and is worth a second look here.
Well beaten in a couple of bumpers but bred to do well at the jumping game, so may do better. With a good yard and top jockey booked, but even so, is one that may need a bit more time.
First two starts (a bumper and a novice hurdle) both full of promise but took a backwards step on latest start. Has had wind surgery since, which may indicate the problem, so better can be expected here.
Very disappointing at Uttoxeter latest where his jumping let him down at times, had looked to be on the upgrade before that (good second at Exeter time before) so needs to bounce back, but conditions fine and could do so.
Moderate efforts in bumpers and tailed off on most recent start. Biting off a bit more than he can chew here and holds little chance.
Point-to-point winner last April, probably unlucky not to have won one already having twice been done on the nod. Has the form in the bank, step up in trip not an issue and looks the one to beat here.
Forecasts
Tossapenny (5/6), Fawsley Spirit (4/1), Blue Flight (6/1), Ocean Cove (13/2), General Consensus (14/1), Mankala (20/1), General Custard (20/1), Sammylou (50/1), Earcomestom (100/1)
The likes of General Consensus, Ocean Cove and Mankala could leave their latest moderate efforts well behind them here but TOSSAPENNY surely deserves a change of luck after two narrow defeats. He's got the best form in the race, having run to a good level on his last two starts, and can make it third time lucky here. Blue Flight is another that has scope for improvement.
- Tossapenny
- General Consensus
- Mankala
