Sprung a 25/1 surprise when finding some from from nowhere to win a Worcester seller last year, but has reverted to type since, well beaten in to subsequent starts, That shock win tells you he can never be ruled out, but others are still preferred.
Winner off this mark last October, but it was only a seller and recent efforts rather suggest this veteran has had enough for the time being. Wind surgery given a try, which may help, but not one for maximum faith.
Last couple of efforts suggest he's about to strike, not beaten far over slightly further here last time (front two well clear) and despite an 8lb rise, looks to have more to come. Has to take high rank in a weak race.
Well beaten most starts and did no better for the move into handicaps when thrashed at Catterick latest. Early days but needs some improvement from somewhere, and quickly.
Won one from 3lb lower at Wincanton in December, but two moderate efforts since then and she didn't beat a horse home at Taunton last time. May have gone off the boil and others preferred now.
Jumping has been the big issue with him, finds obstacles in general a pain and that was once more the case at Huntingdon last time. Wind surgery given a try but can't be backed with any great confidence now.
On the downgrade these days and well beaten again last week at Chepstow, racing too keenly for his own good. Suspicion is there's another race in him off this mark but hard to be confident about when that may be.
Has done okay since going handicapping, winning one and placed in to others. This small drop back in trip may help after appearing not to get home at Bangor and with the champion jockey booked, could go close again.
Fallen a long way in the handicap and showed her first form for some time when staying on into fifth at Taunton last time. Has to build on that, which isn't impossible, and with no weight to carry, has place chances here.
Forecasts
Sackett (13/8), Outrageous Romana (4/1), Cup Of Ambition (7/1), Gilly Grace (8/1), Scales (11/1), Flying Verse (11/1), Just Spot (12/1), Ring Eye (25/1), Howaboutnever (25/1)
This looks even weaker than the first division and SACKETT appears to have a golden chance to get on the scoresheet. This is an easier contest than the one he tackled last time and a repeat of that ought to be good enough. Outrageous Romana is the other with some solid form to her name and looks the biggest danger. Gilly Grace can round out the tricast.
- Sackett
- Outrageous Romana
- Gilly Grace
