Previously beaten in this grade he took a rise in class to 0-120 company in his stride and found the necessary improvement to get off the mark. He's been consistent in the main for this yard and even off a 5lb higher mark should go close.
Had shown very little over hurdles prior to his handicap debut where he offered something to work on off what looked to be a stiff looking mark. Did shape as though he needed a greater test though and will be suited by further than this 2m1f.
His form in bumpers and hurdles had been modest prior to his handicap debut over C&D but a switch to this sphere failed to bring about any improvement. His mark did look a stiff one and he's dropped 5lb here but more is needed to get involved.
His one hurdles win had a very opportunistic feel about it (made all) and he's struggled to repeat that scenario often failing to settle. That was very much the case on his debut for this new yard and overall he's not one to be interested in.
Starts out life for a new yard having looked an increasingly difficult sort for his previous trainer (Sue Smith). His demeanour summed up by his penultimate outing where he took little interest for much of the race; one to avoid for now.
A recent winner he had shown some reasonable form in similar low grade handicaps prior to pulling off a surprise win returned to a novice hurdle. Dictated the race in desperate conditions and returns to handicaps off a 10lb higher mark.
Took advantage of a much reduced mark and a galloping track to score recently ending a long losing run. Often needs plenty of driving along and not an easy ride but can find for pressure although this track isn't sure to suit.
Most of his form is modest (one standout effort) and he's not really shown any improvement for a recent change of yard. He did fare a little better last time and is now dropped a further 4lb but his form lacks any solidity.
Predictably started a big prices in novice company but has shown not feasible improvement entering handicaps. Never on terms over C&D last time he was beaten 26L in total and needs more than a 2lb drop in the weights.
Has so far only beaten one horse in handicaps but at least he managed to finish the race last time (pulled-up other two handicaps). Did have an excuse for his latest poor effort (badly hampered) but his overall form is questionable.
A recent acquisition for this yard he's shown little for them in two starts so far although at least he managed to complete last time over C&D. That race was falsely run though and he's one to tread carefully with given his overall form.
Gained a reward for her consistency when scoring over C&D around a year ago off a 4lb higher mark. Since then has been more out than in with her two most recent efforts looking very laboured and below-par.
Returned from a lengthy absence making his handicap debut last time over 2m in testing conditions. Finished well beaten after failing to settle and is now dropped 5lb for his second try in a handicap; possibly more to offer if he settles this time.
Given a chance by the handicapper and in a first-time hood he ran better than for quite some while over 3m on good ground. Faced with very different conditions next time he reverted to type and this 2m trip today looks on the short side for him.
Forecasts
Our Lucas (11/4), Pc Dixon (9/2), Perseid (7/1), Hartside (8/1), Bill D'Aron (9/1), Devils Water (9/1), Captain Black (11/1), Justatenner (20/1), Catchthemoonlight (20/1), War Joey (20/1), Shanaway (25/1), Frightened Rabbit (40/1), Budarri (50/1), Read'em And Weep (50/1)
The booking of Richard Johnson for PC Dixon is an eye-catching one but his Hexham win came as a surprise with the form looking questionable and he now returned to handicaps he runs off a mark 10lb higher than his last foray into this sphere. OUR LUCAS is far more consistent than most in this contest and he won in a better contest last time with the 5lb rise for that win looking more than fair. Most of the others have something to prove although both Hartside (may appreciate the ground) and Catchthemoonlight if she comes back to form are capable sorts in this grade.
- Our Lucas
- Pc Dixon
- Hartside
