Three-time hurdles winner early last year at around 2m5f, handicapper appears to have seized the initiative based on three runs lately, most recent over fences last month. Tough ask under top-weight.
Fair hurdler on his day, things haven't gone to plan this season and the jumping could have been better most recently but cannot be factored out of this.
Dual handicap hurdle winner earlier in the season but failed to build on those runs before being send chasing on his last two starts. Produced a laboured effort last time but could bounce back.
Promising novice last season, winner on just second start over this trip at Chepstow last month, cheekpieces added now and rider offsets bulk of penalty, entitled to be bang there again.
Three-time winner over hurdles in 2016, latest over 2m5f off mark of 120. No impact chasing last term, ran most pleasing race in a long while at Doncaster over this sort of trip last month and interesting on the back of that (3lb higher).
Dual novice winner last season over timber, tailed off when pulled up at Sandown last time over similar trip on debut for this yard, has undergone wind operation since and needs that to have positive impact.
Irish point-to-point winner has won pair of novice hurdles over mid-range trips in good style for this handler, makes handicap debut upped in journey and likely has more to come.
Winner of one of his three runs in point-to-points, but has shown only limited promise in a bumper and three novice hurdles. Undergone wind operation ahead of handicap debut with cheekpieces added, this looks to be asking plenty. Market can guide.
Multiple point-to-point and hunter chase winner, who has been a latecomer to handicap chases. Stays well, acts on heavy and was sent off favourite from this mark over fences two starts ago, so not ruled out now trying hurdles.
Upped to this trip and duly opened hurdles account at seventh time of asking at Doncaster in December. Given a break since, raised 7lb for the win but entitled to offer more again.
Forecasts
Rosmuc Relay (4/1), Carnspindle (9/2), King Of Fashion (5/1), Chapel Stile (6/1), Tanarpino (15/2), Carlton Ryan (17/2), Jaleo (10/1), Overworkdunderpaid (16/1), Seymour Star (25/1), Souriyan (25/1)
Plenty of these can have a case made for them. Chapel Stile took a step forward to win at Doncaster last time encountering this sort of trip for the first time and, after a break, should go well. Carnspindle, Tanarpino and Carlton Ryan are all worth noting – in that order – but ROSMUC RELAY has created a nice impression in scoring twice in novice hurdles for Kim Bailey and could prove up to defying this opening mark over a longer trip now tackling handicaps.
- Rosmuc Relay
- Chapel Stile
- Carnspindle
