Fought on well to score at Lingfield two starts back and then may have found the trip a little too far when trying to follow up. Back to 12f here, which should help, and drawn to attack should they so want. Chances.
Was starting to get the hang of things when last seen out (in December) and this step up in trip may well help. Opening mark fair and with yard in good form, the very least he needs is a market check.
Hardly flying at present and wings have been clipped on both his last two starts, although drop back to this trip may help. Still hard to fancy and unlikely to break his duck here.
Some promise to be gleaned from his run at Lingfield two starts back, but not enough to think that he's capable of winning this, even from a basement opening handicap mark. Others preferred.
Not seen much in the last two years but came good on second start back from an absence when a narrow winner over C&D last time. Up 3lb but still on a good mark on historical form, so the follow-up far from an impossibility.
Not far behind Wally's Wisdom over C&D last time but unlike that one, he seems to have already found his level and now needs improvement to turn the form around. No win in 17 and one more for placepots than the win.
A couple of pieces of his form here from last autumn would give him a chance, but well beaten on reappearance after a break a fortnight ago. Has had wind surgery since, which may help, but a watching brief advised.
Likes this C&D (form figures 4133) and ran right to form when a close third here last time. Likes to come with a late effort, so harder they go up front the better, and place chances at least again.
Rattled off a four-timer over hurdles when joining this yard last summer, but then went off the boil a little. Very well handicapped and has had wind surgery but yard are struggling for winners (just 2-44 in March) which tempers confidence.
Forecasts
Oregon Gift (10/11), Too Many Diamonds (11/2), Wally's Wisdom (6/1), I'm Right On Time (7/1), Bird For Life (8/1), Heron (16/1), Hold Hands (16/1), Spiritofedinburgh (33/1), Faheem (66/1)
OREGON GIFT has been handed a golden chance to make all, with many of his rivals usually held up for late runs. This trip probably suits better than further and he can get back on the scoresheet. Plenty will look at the seemingly well-handicapped Too Many Diamonds as a likely one but the form of the yard is of some concern, and a bigger danger could be Wally's Wisdom, back to winning ways after a long absence.
- Oregon Gift
- Wally's Wisdom
- Too Many Diamonds
