National Federation Of Roofing Contractors Mares' Standard Open NH Flat Race

Off time: 17:36 | Winning time: 4m 5.70s

Barcalona¹⁹³

Age: 6| Weight: 10-12| J: Harry Cobden| T: C L Tizzard

16/1

Poor form in three bumpers for previous trainer, has joined Colin Tizzard but likely going to be seen to best effect over jumps down the line. Market check needed.

Form: 947

Bet On Betty

Age: 5| Weight: 10-12| J: S Bowen| T: O Greenall & J Guerriero

20/1

Flying Legend mare is a half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/chaser Minella Reception. Makes debut and market likely best guide.

Form:

Cavok⁸¹

Age: 6| Weight: 10-12| J: D A Jacob| T: B Pauling

7/2

Kayf Tara mare, won a New Year's Eve point-to-point in good style and should be ready to play a forward role on debut under rules.

Form: 1

Meep Meep

Age: 5| Weight: 10-12| J: T Scudamore| T: T Lacey

5/2

Flemensfirth mare is a half-sister to useful hurdler Western Warrior, yard in cracking form recently (4-8) and makes appeal on paper for this debut mission.

Form:

Pedulia Alba⁷²

Age: 5| Weight: 10-12| J: Lucy Gardner⁽³⁾| T: Mrs S Gardner

80/1

Unimpressive in pair of bumpers for different yards seven months apart, must improve significantly to have a prominent role in this.

Form: 79

Shapiro²⁴

Age: 5| Weight: 10-12| J: Aidan Coleman| T: A J Honeyball

7/2

Promise in three bumpers so far, twice finding the frame. Latest just appeared to lack gear change over 2m1½f on good ground, also gone well in heavy and can improve again, entitled to be in the mix.

Form: 623

Liberty Bella⁴¹

Age: 4| Weight: 10-5| J: T E Whelan| T: B Eckley

28/1

Shaped with some promise last month in Bangor bumper (2m½f, heavy) on debut, will have to build on that to get involved in the shake-up.

Form: 5

Viva Vittoria

Age: 4| Weight: 10-5| J: L P Aspell| T: Miss E C Lavelle

5/2

Stowaway filly cost €32,000 as a three-year-old, yard in decent form lately and market may offer clues as to what is expected on debut.

Form:

Forecasts

Meep Meep (5/2), Viva Vittoria (5/2), Cavok (7/2), Shapiro (7/2), Barcalona (16/1), Bet On Betty (20/1), Liberty Bella (28/1), Pedulia Alba (80/1)

Plenty newcomers, ensuring the market will be essential viewing but there was plenty to like in the way CAVOK won a point-to-point on New Year's Eve and the Kayf Tara mare could well build on that by opening her account at the first time of asking under rules. Meep Meep's trainer is enjoying a fine spell and she joins fellow newcomer Viva Vittoria on the shortlist while Shapiro is the best of those with form already in the book.
