Barry Ennis Memorial Novice Handicap Chase

Off time: 16:52 | Winning time: 4m 35.40s

Crosshue Boy^t⁸

Age: 8| Weight: 11-8| J: Mr H D Dunne⁽⁵⁾| T: S Doyle| OR: 118| C

6/4

Triple-winning hurdler who opened his account over fences under an enterprising ride in novice company last week. Appeared to have little chance at the weights that day and the handicapper appears to have been suitably impressed.

Form: 345061

Consharon Boy^t⁷⁰

Age: 8| Weight: 11-2| J: D E Splaine| T: T O'Brien| OR: 112| BF

9/2

Point-to-point, bumper and hurdles winner who has showed definite signs of ability over regulation fences. However, he was pulled up last time and he looks difficult to keep sound.

Form: 337-74P

Getoutwhenyoucan^p,t1⁵⁵

Age: 9| Weight: 11-1| J: Mark Walsh| T: A Leahy| OR: 111| C| D

10/3

Winning for the seventh time over hurdles when victorious at Limerick in December. Rarely runs two races alike and that's a positive following a dismal run last time. On an attractive mark compared to that over hurdles and a tongue-tie is fitted.

Form: 18551P

Soul Kaliber^p,t⁸

Age: 8| Weight: 11-0| J: D N Russell| T: G Elliott| OR: 110

4/1

11-race maiden who travels strongly in his races but who finds little when pressure is applied. Respected given the form of his yard this week, but hardly appeals as a betting medium.

Form: 8-4U646

Burning Issues^p⁹³

Age: 11| Weight: 10-4| J: J P O'Sullivan⁽⁷⁾| T: P J Rothwell| OR: 100

14/1

Dual winner in autumn 2014, but well beaten on all starts since this winter and others make more appeal in this contest.

Form: 556807

Forecasts

Crosshue Boy (6/4), Getoutwhenyoucan (10/3), Soul Kaliber (4/1), Consharon Boy (9/2), Burning Issues (14/1)

The handicapper has taken note of Crosshue's Boy's winning performance and has reassessed him in line with that effort when beating higher rated rivals in a novice contest. He had the best of things out front but battled on well to score and he will surely use his stamina to test his rivals. GETOUTWHENYOUCAN is a quirky sort who usually bounces back from a poor run and who comes into this on an attractive weight compared to that over hurdles. An 8lb rise in his hurdling mark this season is not reflected in his chase rating and that leaves him looking an attractive proposition with the prospect of a tongue-tie correcting whatever ailed him last time.
