Martaline gelding who was hurdles winner in France on his sole start over timber at Enghien in April 2016. Had wind surgery since joining this trainer and makes his UK debut wearing a tongue tie. Fitness to prove.

Didn't get any further than flight number two on his handicap debut at this track latest, but previously finished a shock 9L runner up to The Linksman at Bangor (2m novices heavy).

Found a weak race at Uttoxeter last summer to get off the mark over hurdles (well backed) and broadly consistent since. Possibly slightly too high in the weights, and was a never involved (fifth) over further here last month.

Ran well on his last start over hurdles at Lingfield in December (2m3f+) to get within 1¼L of course specialist The Game Is A Foot. Kept to the AW since, and returns off a 3lb higher mark.

Runner up in a Southwell bumper on debut in May 2017, but hasn't quite came of age just yet over hurdles (0 from 3). Steps back up in trip for his handicap debut in a not overly taxing contest.

Has shown she handles testing conditions when a runner up at Plumpton (2m heavy) in January, and again ran well enough at that track in a maiden hurdle last month finishing 2½L third to The Premier Celtic. More required in handicap company.

Won just once in 12 starts, at Plumpton in December but has plenty of placed efforts on his CV, including when finishing 4L third to Alberta at Kempton latest (2m soft). Stamina reserves a slight concern upped in trip.

More letters than numbers in his form figures since winning at Stratford in May 2016 (3m2f+ good to firm). Appears versatile in terms of underfoot conditions, also winning on soft, but tough to build a case for supporting him overall.

Be Daring33
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-5| J: Tom Cannon| T: C Gordon| OR:  96| BF

Had 13 attempts to break his duck and regularly let down by his hurdling methods. However, beaten just a neck by Blue April over the extended 2m1f here in January and again a runner up at Plumpton latest, so has some ability of sorts.

Forecasts

Le Capricieux (7/2), Samson The Man (5/1), Be Daring (11/2), Guards Chapel (6/1), Magoo (13/2), Miss Adventure (7/1), Burst Ya Bubble (7/1), Duke Of Kilcorral (16/1), Tea Time Fred (16/1)

Verdict

Not a race in which to get overly involved with, as it's more than permissible to build a case for a handful of the runners. Magoo is an unknown commodity for Paul Nicholls, but nevertheless, his opening handicap mark looks plenty cautious enough. It is also early days for a few of the others in handicap company including Duke Of Kilcorral, Samson The Man and Miss Adventure, whilst the frustrating Be Daring might find a small race when he resolves his jumping issues. However, Gary Moore seldom leaves Fontwell without a winner, and doubly represented, we'll side with LE CAPRICIEUX in the hope his stamina reserves are strong enough beyond 2m.
  1. Le Capricieux
  2. Be Daring
  3. Samson The Man
