His best recent run came when winning here last May over the extended 3m off a 4lb lower mark. Only seen once since (needed run) when highly tried at Sandown and typically jumped rather poorly; will need to show more here.

Tough and strong stayer who has won over C&D (that was his last win off a 4lb higher mark) but has struggled to a certain extent of late. This is an easier grade than he has been running in but has failed to complete in two of last three starts.

Very much back on track when winning at Bangor earlier in the year (suspicion the race fell apart though) but did run a reasonable race next time off a 13lb higher mark. Stays well although he was pulled-up in this last year; not the most consistent.

Capable of some useful form on occasions and did nothing wrong last time bouncing back to form here over shorter. Slight doubt as to whether he needs this trip though and getting harder and harder to win with.

Quite a regular in races of this ilk winning one at Market Rasen over Xmas but has looked vulnerable off slightly higher marks since. Stays well and hard to ignore but may have to settle for a place rather than a win.

Has won handicaps over hurdles off higher marks in the past and shaped far better than his final placing over fences at Lingfield last time. A danger to all here if his stamina holds out; tongue tie on for the first time and well handicapped.

Rigadin De Beaucheneb30

20/1
A tough and useful staying handicapper in the past he isn't the force of old failing to complete over a marathon trip last time. Now well below his last winning mark but not showing the zip to take advantage of it; can make mistakes.

Zerachielp30

Needed a drop in class to get off the mark over fences and despite not winning since ran a very sound race over this trip last time out proving his effectiveness on deep ground. Should run well here and looks competitive off this mark.

Took an age to win a race but finally did so when winning here last time when well supported following up a good run also here prior to that win. Despite the rise in the weights still looks well handicapped but not straightforward.

Ran better than he has for quite some while when third over this trip last time (finished behind Zerachiel). Has plummeted down the handicap and is well weighted if he can his old form but that is an if.

Forecasts

Talk Of The South (7/4), Gamain (4/1), Zerachiel (5/1), Capard King (6/1), Cyclop (7/1), The Boss's Dream (8/1), Muckle Roe (10/1), Boyfromnowhere (14/1), Rigadin De Beauchene (20/1), Russe Blanc (20/1), Vice Et Vertu (33/1)

Verdict

This will be a real stamina test and there are one or two lurking on good marks if they stay the trip and one of those would be THE BOSS’S DREAM who shaped well in a stamina test last time and now goes in a tongue-tie for the first time. Talk Of The South might not be straightforward but he likes racing around here with Zerachiel another to consider after his sound run last time. Gamain would be a danger if his stamina holds out with Cyclop another to consider given his consistent form in this type of event.
