Remains in rock-solid form since joining this trainer for £7,000 from Derek Shaw in February. Hacked up when heavily backed in a Lingfield claimer on Wednesday (6f), and returns swiftly to action.
Kept exclusively to Southwell for his last six starts, and was a winner of a 5f Class 6 handicap there in early December. Plenty to do at these weights.
Elder statesman who returned from a winter break with a reasonable effort over C&D last month, finishing just under 4L third to Liquid. Should appreciate the ease in grade.
A winner in this grade at Southwell in December (6f), but comfortably held in stronger races since. Plenty to do with Captain Lars on these terms in comparison to in a handicap.
Downed a 1/7f when taking a C&D claimer back in June, and hasn't raced anywhere other than Wolverhampton since. Out of sorts until a stronger effort latest when beaten 2L by Krystallite, but faces a tough task at the weights.
Reasonably consistent in the main, and has won at this track in the past (6f). A clear cut winner of a 5f Class 6 handicap at Chelmsford latest, so slightly surprising to see him pitched in here on disadvantageous terms.
Pacesetter who has done plenty of winning over the years (7 from 34 on synthetics). Appears on the downgrade nowadays judged upon his recent performances and falling handicap mark. Might find another opportunity in a lesser claimer.
Forecasts
Captain Lars (6/5), Silvanus (3/1), Strictly Carter (7/1), Monumental Man (8/1), Newstead Abbey (10/1), Point North (14/1), Archie Stevens (20/1)
A low grade start to Wolverhampton's feature fixture of the entire calendar year, and in truth this contest is there for the taking for Archie Watson's CAPTAIN LARS. He's proved to be a money spinner since being picked up cheaply out of a Lingfield claimer early last month, and has another ideal opportunity to score hot on the heels of Wednesday's straightforward 6f Lingfield success.
