Has been presented with a couple of class five races and this is a race of a similar standard despite the official classification. Handles the going and he may be more resolute than some in this.

On a two-year losing run and never looked likely to get competitive at Southwell on Monday. Hopefully that was an off day as his previous run over C&D would be more than good enough in this.

Huntingdon regular who has slipped below the mark of his sole victory 16 months ago. Hardly reliable, but could get a soft lead in a bad race and a return to 2m will help.

Winner of an Irish point-to-point on bad ground, but looked a hard ride when second at Kempton last spring. Has been off four months since an inauspicious chase debut and this trip may be on the short side.

11-time winner but this veteran hasn't tasted success since landing a selling hurdle two years ago. At his best on quicker ground than this.

Forecasts

Trojan Star (8/13), Bajardo (3/1), Kilinakin (6/1), Mondo Cane (11/1), Changing The Guard (12/1)

Verdict

This is one those races where punters will be asked to choose between moderate horses who will be offered at shorter prices than would usually be the case. MONDO CANE will not have to prove his fitness having raced on Monday. That was a lacklustre performance, but a repetition of his previous C&D second would be good enough. Trojan Star has looked less than reliable, but he shaped well in a first-time visor and this shorter trip with forcing tactics may prove the answer. Bajardo has won a couple of races of a similar standard when his rivals have proved less resolute, whilst Kilnakin has potential but probably over further than this.
  1. Mondo Cane
  2. Trojan Star
  3. Bajardo
