Showed a bit of improvement on third start when not beaten far at Taunton, although fourth and sixth did nothing for the form next time. Extra distance will help here, as will the uphill finish, so chances of the three at least.

Point-to-point winner around this time last year, bit disappointing given yard's good record in these races in bumpers at Newbury at Towcester so far but this could be a little easier. Others still make more appeal at this stage.
Nicely bred and related to the useful chaser King's Odyssey, should find this a suitable enough test on debut and yard have a 13% strike rate in these events. Warrants a look in the market at the very least.

Has the best form of these, having finished second on debut at Bangor in December. Did pull hard there though, and had little left in the tank at the finish, so needs to settle better at this trip or petrol could run out late again.

First run for yard, pedigree screams chaser and likely we won't see the best of him for some time. Yard have a 15% strike rate in bumpers so afforded respect on that alone, but might find others a bit sharper today.
There's not much encouragement to be taken from his pedigree and it suggests he'll do better once seeing genuinely good spring ground, but yard can get winners in this sphere so any money for him makes him a bit more interesting.

Forecasts

Legal Eyes (5/4), Irish Odyssey (3/1), Dancing Doug (13/2), Hunt Politics (8/1), Cracker Jak (8/1), Some Day Soon (12/1)

Verdict

Legal Eyes has the best form in the book but Fontwell's sapping uphill finish might find him out if he doesn't settle a bit better, and it might be worth taking a chance on DANCING DOUG despite the form of his Taunton third not working out that well as yet. He does look the sort that will appreciate a test such as this and can cause a minor upset. The market is likely to tell us plenty about the chances of the rest, with Irish Odyssey and Cracker Jak both worth keeping an eye on.
  1. Dancing Doug
  2. Legal Eyes
  3. Cracker Jak
