Won a point-to-point on soft ground last year and produced his best effort under rules when third over C&D (good to soft) last time on his chase debut. Switches back to hurdles for handicap debut from a workable mark and this test should suit.
13-race maiden, though placed on seven occasions and her best form would give her a squeak from this mark. Handles heavy ground, though whether she will see out this trip on it is a different matter.
Runner-up in five of his last six starts, including both for this trainer, at Wetherby and more recently Newcastle. Trip looks his optimum, while he handles soft ground well (untried on heavy), but 1lb upward nudge hasn't done him any favours.
3-39, so not easy to catch right, but has long been suited by a test of stamina like this and he again ran well in defeat at Kelso (3m2f, soft) last time. 1lb rise puts him 2lb higher than his latest win, so needs to eek out a bit more again.
Put some moderate form behind him to make all and win by 4½L in a very similar contest at Southwell (3m, soft) last time out under this pilot. 7lb penalty will make the follow-up assignment tough and he has pulled up on both tries on heavy.
0-11 under rules, having taken five attempts to win a point-to-point. Made the frame on heavy at Ayr last season. Was in process of running a good race when falling over fences at Newcastle last time and not ruled out of the money from 1lb higher.
Pulled up behind Houndscourt at Southwell last time, having also failed to complete there last May. Has not been competitive for almost two years and others are readily preferred.
Well beaten in all seven starts under rules, although the best of those was last time out when a 17L sixth at Ayr (3m½f, heavy). Needs a lot of improvement to get competitive even in this grade.
Finished ¾L ahead of Turtle Cask, from whom she received 13lb at Kelso last time (3m2f, soft). Meets that opponent on 2lb better terms today, so should be able to confirm that form. Not ruled out, but 0-14 and doesn't find much in closing stages.
Forecasts
Houndscourt (3/1), Broadway Belle (4/1), Tickanrun (5/1), Floramoss (6/1), Allmyown (7/1), Turtle Cask (8/1), Log On (10/1), The Jam Man (14/1), Agent Louise (33/1)
The suggestion in this stayers' handicap hurdle is ALLMYOWN, who handles the track, is unexposed and may have been found a good opportunity on his handicap debut from this mark. A stiff test of stamina ought to suit him. The are plenty of other exposed performers lining up, with Houndscort respected, though up against it under a penalty on this ground, while Floramoss has stamina to prove in these conditions, as does Tickanrun. Broadway Belle may again be capable of nicking a place, though a bigger danger to the selection may prove to be Log On.
- Allmyown
- Log On
- Tickanrun
