Was going places in 2014 and 2015 but form has deteriorated since. Little obvious encouragement from his Gowran Park return last month and new headgear combi now tried. Others make more appeal on recent evidence.

Was in great form in the autumn, winning two and going close when trying to complete a hat-trick at Newcastle. Up 5lb for narrow Sedgefield win when last seen on Boxing Day, so more needed, but trip/ground suit and he has claims again.

Won four chases and a hurdle in France, though the last of those was over two years ago. Form has tailed off and now makes his debut for this trainer with a fair bit to prove, especially back over the minimum trip.

Age: 10|  Weight: 11-5| J: Jamie Hamilton| T: M Walford| OR:  110| CD
2/1
Has won five chases at around this trip, mainly on soft/heavy ground, the latest from just 3lb lower at Bangor in January. Bettered that from today's mark in defeat at Haydock next time and a repeat effort would give him serious claims again.

Forecasts

Dica (13/8), Uno Valoroso (2/1), Leap Dearg (3/1), Square Viviani (7/1)

Verdict

Given the recent French form of Square Viviani and the Irish form of Leap Dearg, this could be left to Dica and UNO VALOROSO to battle it out, with the latter getting the vote. Both are fully exposed, though perhaps Mark Walford's charge may be the more capable of the pair of performing to his best from this mark, with Dica needing improvement after a 5lb rise.

  3. Square Viviani
