2/1
First-time hood on second start helped him get off the mark in good fashion and is proving a better chaser than hurdler. Not built on that promise in two starts since and DQ'd last time (rider weighed in light); room for improvement in his jumping.

7/4
C&D winner who appears to be going through a good spell at the moment finishing runner-up at Leicester last time over 2m. Now steps back up 4f in trip and 3lb below his last winning mark he'll handle this ground and makes more appeal than some in this.

4/1
Lightly-raced sort for his age (this will be just his 4th chase start) he produced a sound effort last time out (first-time visor) in a weak Lingfield event (2m, heavy). He's won off 1lb lower over hurdles and a repeat of his last run would see him go close here back up 4f in trip.

16/1
In much better form at around the same time last year when he won back-to-back handicap chases off lower marks over longer trips (3m). Pulled-up in his last four races though and looks to have lost his way and still above his last winning mark.

12/1
Has sunk 9lb below his last winning mark from just over a year ago when scoring at Taunton over 2m6f on good ground. Very few runs that would induce enthusiasm subsequent to that run and turned in a modest effort last time out; not one to rely upon.

Heavenly Promise18
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-2| J: Lee Edwards| T: J Groucott| OR:  76
10/1
Has on a few occasions now shaped better than her final finishing position but makes mistakes and that often blights her chance overall. Hood removed again for this outing and dropped 4lb from last run; trip looks on the short side for her and others make more appeal.

Forecasts

Mondo Cane (7/4), Skipping On (2/1), Good Man Hughie (4/1), Heavenly Promise (10/1), Skint (12/1), Ballythomas (16/1)

Verdict

A fairly low key start to the card with most of this field having something to prove and it may well be the lightly-raced GOOD MAN HUGHIE that can take this after he ran into one producing his best effort for quite some time over fences on his last start. Mondo Cane is the only C&D winner in the field and could well appreciate the return to 2m4f although he can look a hard ride on occasions. Skipping On has to improve his jumping to take a hand and the same could be said of Heavenly Promise who has flattered only to deceive on a number of occasions and may be suited by a longer trip.
  1. Good Man Hughie
  2. Mondo Cane
  3. Skipping On
