Ran a stormer when fifth in the Grade 3 Betfair Hurdle at Newbury last time over two miles. Longer trip here and plenty of weight make this far from simple but looks sure to give it another good go.
Pulled up in hot race behind Remiluc las time at Newbury but had previously looked progressive with two wins from four starts over timber. Step up in trip looks reasonable and not out of it if handling the testing ground.
Handles heavy ground. Was running fair race when unseating his amateur rider at last at Wincanton last time out. Decent conditinal booked and has very little weight. Stays the trip so is not without hope.
In-and-out performer this term, winning in heavy ground at Newton Abbot in October but not building on that overall in three subsequent starts. Handles conditions and represents top yard, but needs to get hs act together.
Raised 4lb following Sandown success last month where stayed on well after making all. May be taken on for lead by Remiluc but is in good heart and shouldn't be far away.
Won over 2m at Chepstow in November then outclassed when distant fourth in Grade 2 at this trip following month. Shade disappointing when favourite last two starts, but better show not ruled out and first time tongue-tie may well help.
Forecasts
Landin (11/4), Remiluc (3/1), Knocknanuss (4/1), Marley Firth (5/1), The Hollow Ginge (13/2), Never Equalled (7/1)
Although he's run well at this trip in the past, Remiluc, who ran such a fine race at Newbury last time, may be better over shorter and with his big weight will do well to score. That is certainly not ruled out, but marginal preference is for MARLEY FRITH, who can make the most of the lumps of weight he receives. The tongue-tie may spark a change in his fortunes. The other four all have claims in a tight-knit event and there could be better to come from The Hollow Ginge, Knocknanauss, and likely front-runner Landin.
- Marley Firth
- Remiluc
- Knocknanuss
