Likely Cheltenham bound later in the month (probably for the Grand Annual), so this gives this useful chaser (154-rated) a blow-out. Fences career record at Newcastle reads 2,1; beaten just 2¼L by none other than Waiting Patiently in December 2016.
Winner of a 3m hurdle at Wetherby in October (good), this seven-year-old was denied a chance to race here on the Flat earlier this week. Not easy to assess him in a bumper, but notable that the Champion Jockey is aboard.
A three time Flat winner for Richard Whitaker (1m4f) during 2016, this horse established himself as 'Mr Newcastle' in the early days of racing on Tapeta. Disappointing on the whole for a while now, but will eventually win more races.
Probably fair to say he's a fraction unreliable, but he's a fair handicap hurdler (2m) when he fancies it, as he showed when winning authoritatively at Wetherby in November (2m). Could be just the type who enjoys the AW experience.
Notched a hurdles hat-trick when scoring on deep ground (turf) here immediately prior to Christmas (2m), and has continued in decent order since despite attracting the attentions of the handicapper. Tough task on these terms.
Showing gradual signs of improvement for this trainer in low grade Flat handicaps. Should find a small race eventually, but that's highly unlikely to be today against these much more talented, stronger jumps rivals.

FOREST BIHAN will have far bigger fish to fry than this in the weeks which lie ahead (weather permitting of course), so in some respects that makes him vulnerable. However, whilst this contest makes little appeal for betting purposes, he's far classier than any of his five rivals, and class alone should see him prevail. William Of Orange is a shade quirky, but the sneaking suspicion is that he might just take to racing on Tapeta at this galloping track, and he's preferred for the forecast ahead of Lough Salt.
