Expensive purchase who under-delivered for Richard Hannon but hasn't been far away on occasions for this yard from an ever-falling mark. Reasonable effort in a 6f handicap at Chelmsford last time but vulnerable to anything above average here.
Looked very green when hanging badly first time out but took a big step forward over this C&D next time when just over 5L adrift of Karijini in a novices event. Still a fair bit to prove but open to further progress..
By Power out of a sprint-winning dam and is a half-brother to the 1m-1m2f winner Karynia. Cost €11,000 as a yearling and, heralding from a fledgling yard, is very much an unknown quantity. Market should guide.
Roderic O'Connor filly who is a half-sister to a couple of winners but could only beat one home on her debut before finding only minimal improvement in a novice auction over C&D. Much more needed.
Unfancied for her debut over 6f at Wolverhampton in November and was never dangerous after a slow start but offered something to work on all the same. Too early to discount but probably needs further.
Price rose considerably from foal to yearling and showed clear signs of ability first time out when sixth in novice stakes event over 7f here in November, keeping on late. Type to do better but drop in trip not of obvious benefit.
Cost €23,000 as a juvenile. and has shown enough to suggest there are races to be won with her, finishing a ½L second over 6f at Newcastle recently, having shaped well on her debut eight months earlier. Looks the one to beat.
Forecasts
Porrima (5/4), Tawaafoq (11/4), Noteworthy (6/1), L'Age D'Or (8/1), Geetanjali (14/1), Catheadans Fury (16/1), Maximum Power (16/1)
In a race which looks there for the taking, it's hard to see past PORRIMA who confirmed debut promise by going close in a 6f novice stakes at Newcastle last month. With Luke Morris taking over in the plate, Ben Haslam's filly should be able to make it third time lucky, though both Noteworthy and L'Age D'Or offered something to work on first time out, albeit each may need further. Tawaafoq - one of only two males in the line-up - is fully exposed but has sufficient form on the board to warrant respect.
