€85,000 yearling by Casamento who was given a fine educational ride by Kieran O'Neill when winning by an ever growing 1 ½L here earlier in the month (7f). Never stronger than at the finish, he'll almost certainly relish this longer trip.

€70,000 yearling by Cape Cross who showed up prominently for much of the contest on debut at Kempton last month (1m) before weakening to finish seventh of 12 to Sovereign Duke. Should improve, but this stiff mile takes some getting.

Placed on his debut on turf at Doncaster in October, and beaten only a nose by Lord Oberon on the Fibresand at Southwell last month (7f). Appears in need of this longer trip, but this rates as his toughest test yet.

Unraced first foal by New Approach out of the 2013 UAE 1000 Guineas winner Lovely Pass. Stable always respected with their Newcastle runners, and the market should tell us plenty in terms of his expected chance.

Unraced seventh foal by Exchange Rate out of the 1m to 1m6f winner Kiswahli. A half-sister to four winners; Kinetica, Four Nations, Slip Of The Tongue and Weather Front, she debuts as a filly worth monitoring in the market.

Forecasts

Casey Jones (11/8), Kripke (3/1), Lovely Approach (4/1), Kwanza (7/1), Kapow (8/1)

Verdict

Both Lovely Approach (Hugo Palmer) and Kwanza (David Simcock) promise plenty based on their respective pedigrees, and both trainers know where the winners enclosure is at Gosforth Park. However, CASEY JONES has already visited that very same winners enclosure earlier this month when a most impressive 1½L debut scorer. Penalised today, he has slightly more on his plate, but he really got his act together inside the final two furlongs that evening, and was never stronger than at the finish under a fine ride from Kieran O'Neill, and he should relish this step up in trip. He is the standout form pick of those with racecourse experience, and it'll take a very useful newcomer to lower his colours.
  1. Casey Jones
  2. Lovely Approach
  3. Kwanza
