Cost €75,000 and has a decent pedigree, very disappointing when sent off 11/8 favourite for 5f AW maiden at Southwell in August, off since. Back up in trip for third start, with work to do.
Sent off big prices and no threat for turf maidens at Newmarket (7f, soft) and Doncaster (6f, good) in summer of 2016, off 590 days since and hard to make case for.
Flopped in a 6f maiden at Newcastle in September 2016 when trained by Saeed bin Suroor for Godolphin, hasn't been sighted since. Best watched on debut for connections unless market vibes are strong.
Kyllachy colt was backed to win 5f Lingfield novice contest in early January and obliged, just failed since over 6f at same track and viable claims once more this evening.
Winner over this trip at the Curragh in May for Ger Lyons, held in trio of group-race outings on turf over the summer. Interesting recruit to the AW sphere on first start for new trainer. Should go close if handling surface.
War Front colt, cost $575,000 as a yearling. Related to some smart winners in the US and dam was a Grade 3 winner over an extended mile, useful efforts last summer in turf maidens and can give bold account on AW bow.
Sepoy filly cost 50,000 gns as a yearling, is half-sister to numerous winners and should have no trip concerns on debut. Meets at least two potentially smart rivals, but one to note in betting.
Forecasts
Tribal Quest (2/1), Black Sails (11/4), Galloway Hills (7/2), Superego (7/1), Be Be King (10/1), Remal Dubai (14/1), Sea The Waves (25/1)
Galloway Hills has been in good form lately at Lingfield and should run another sound race here while debutante Superego makes appeal on paper and is worth scrutiny in the betting. It isn't hard to see Tribal Quest and BLACK SAILS setting the standard however. The latter, out of War Front, posted credible efforts on turf in the summer and is much respected for Charlie Appleby but might play second fiddle this evening. Black Sails has won already at the Curragh and has also shaped pleasing in Group-race company in Ireland before leaving Ger Lyons. Archie Watson may have acquired himself a useful filly and she can start paying her way immediately on debut for her new yard.
- Black Sails
- Tribal Quest
- Galloway Hills
