Finished second on two of his four starts prior to winning in a three runner C&D novice contest last month. Represents a stable in good form at present (3/6) and one for the shortlist on handicap debut.

Making his first start since being gelded when coming home 6L clear of his rivals at Kempton last month. Run possibly came too soon when well held at Southwell three days later and races off a mark 11lb higher than for that Kempton success today.

Gelded prior to winning a 1m handicap contest at Kempton last month. Raised 3lb for that victory and interesting to see how he fares in this contest.

Ran well on all three starts so far including when runner-up over 7f here last time out. Bred to appreciate this step up in trip on today's handicap debut.

Verdict

ODE TO AUTUMN showed a liking for this venue when winning impressively in a small field over C&D last time out and with the blinkers worn on that occasion retained today he can make a winning handicap debut for trainer John Gosden. The maiden Chingachgook finished two places behind the selection when the pair met in a novice contest at Lingfield in December and he can claim second on today's handicap debut while Bachelor, a winner at Kempton last time out for his leading Irish trainer can claim third today.
