Joined this trainer after winning a 6f course seller for Tom Dascombe in September, and has maintained a consistent level of form since, including when a winner off just a 1lb lower mark over C&D in November.
Twice a winner over 7f, he took advantage of a drop into claiming grade to win over 6f here last time out. Now back into handicaps where he's looked vulnerable before off similar marks on his first run for this yard (cost £14,000).
Off the track since mid October, and is upped in trip on his first try on synthetics. Hails from a strong stable, and cost 50,000 gns as a yearling, so not beyond the realms of possibilities that he can improve.
Didn't appear to stay the trip (extended mile) on his handicap debut at this track late last month. That was perhaps a shade surprising given his earlier respectable enough efforts. On a retrieval mission with further improvement required.
Has done well enough since sent handicapping, climbing 6lb in the weights without winning. Kept on well on his first try at this trip latest when finishing just over ½L third to Fiery Breath at Lingfield.
Beaten a head by subsequent Newcastle scorer Elixsoft on her handicap debut over C&D in early January, and seemingly not suited by dropping back to 6f here latest in a race where Takeonefortheteam finished 1L second to Snaffled.
Forecasts
Our Man In Havana (9/4), Danzay (7/2), Immortal Romance (9/2), Oneroa (6/1), Takeonefortheteam (6/1), Montague (15/2)
A small field finale where Montague will be popular having been claimed by David O'Meara for £14,000 after winning for Jamie Osborne over 6f here recently. However, this race rates as a tight and trappy affair in which more than a couple of the other runners have solid enough claims. At more attractive projected odds, small stakes are played on the filly ONEROA. She appears to need this 7f trip as demonstrated when finishing a head second to Elixsoft over C&D on her penultimate start. That form has worked out well, with the winner, the third (Ray Purchase) and the fourth (Bad Dog) all winning subsequently, so a 4lb rise in the weights appears fully merited.
