In good heart on the Flat but his losing run over hurdles is starting to mount up and has plenty to prove just now. Not done any favours by having to conceded weight all round either.
Not been in the best of form since joining his current yard and comes here with a bit to prove despite now dropping to a handy mark. (Yet to win in a handicap.)
Previous course winner and still has more to offer. Well worth a try over this trip and possible more patient handling from the saddle can inspire another bold effort. Shortlisted. (Yard won the 2016 renewal.)
Big improvement posted in his last two outings for his his new yard and likely there's more to come now he's found his level. Interesting contender and well worth a check in the betting.
Winner of a 3m point-to-point and made steady progress since switching to racing under rules. Best effort to date posted over this trip at Wetherby last time out and has to make the shortlist in this company.
Mainly consistent but switches back to hurdles after a couple of moderate efforts over fences. May have more to offer but needs to bounce back. First try with a new jockey today.
Notched a hat-trick of wins last March but not in the same form after reassessment. However, he's back on a winning mark as a result and, with his rider taking a further 5lb off with his claim, the gelding has a feasible chance at the weights.
Similar record to Modulus in that he lost his way after enjoying a period of success last spring. Back on a handy mark but has shaped like a Sedgefield specialist, so has a bit to prove away from his favourite track.
Forecasts
Aaron Lad (7/4), The Dawn Man (5/2), Rockalzaro (11/2), Cougar's Gold (9/1), Modulus (11/1), Dark And Dangerous (20/1), Tyrell (22/1), Brotherly Company (28/1)
ROCKALZARO likes it around Catterick and has already created the impression that he'll enjoy the challenge of this trip. The selection can make the running but may well benefit from a more patient approach this time around. Aron Lad has started to get his act together and is rated as a big threat on this occasion, while The Dawn Man comes into this on the back of a solid effort at Wetherby and would also be dangerous to underestimate.
- Rockalzaro
