Hard to fault his attitude and easy to forget that he has been a Grade 1 winning hurdler in the past. Appears to have taken well to fences and maintained his unbeaten record last time when winning at Market Rasen despite not jumping that fluently.

Only seen once since he was 6th in an Albert Bartlett at the Cheltenham Festival back in 2016(ran well in a handicap hurdle). Now returns from a long absence to make his chasing debut and looks the type to do well over fences with a tongue-tie fitted for the first time.

Winning hurdler who was switched to fences after nearly a year off and may not have had ideal conditions on either of his chase starts especially last time over 3m in stamina sapping conditions. Started favourite both times but worth another chance over a shorter trip.

Well beaten on his first start over fences he ran to a much better level second time around only beaten by one with more speed over 2m. Runs without headgear this time and this front-runner will be dangerous if he gets an easy lead here and should improve again.

Took well to hurdles winning three of his seven starts and shaped better than the bare result on his comeback run last time. Has some strong form over hurdles and travels strongly and if he takes to fences on his debut he could well prove of interest.

Most of his best form over hurdles has come when he's run in France (still for this yard) and looked laboured last time out at Sandown in a Grade 2 hurdle. Now starts his chasing career but looks to have been handed a stiff task at the weights.

Forecasts

Allysson Monterg (3/1), Le Rocher (3/1), Verni (4/1), Brelan D'As (5/1), Diamant Bleu (11/2), Rayvin Black (8/1)

Verdict

This looks a cracking novice chase with quite a few options and Le Rocher will do well to maintain his unbeaten record giving weight away all round and he’ll need to brush up his jumping if he’s to take a hand in the finish. Verni did very well last time out over hurdles at Haydock off a break and his hurdles form gives him a real chance here if he takes to fences. RAYVIN BLACK has had a couple of tries over fences now and this test looks ideal after he showed up well when taking the runner-up slot last time out and he’ll be dangerous with a easy lead. Brelan D’As is another to throw into the mix with this test looking more suitable than his two chase starts so far although he does need to show a little more application in a finish.
  1. Rayvin Black
  2. Verni
  3. Le Rocher
