Useful hurdler who has yet to win a handicap over hurdles but has posted some fine efforts in big handicaps this season and did so again when finishing third in the Lanzarote last time off a 3lb lower mark. Should cope with the slight drop in trip here and a leading candidate in this.

Returns to the tack after wind surgery having run some fine races over hurdles prior to that (Listed hurdle winner). Ran very well when last seen at Sandown off 2lb higher trying 2m for the first time and it will be interesting to see what she can do here over further.

A good winner over hurdles (second handicap start) last May showing improved form for the step up to 2m4f he was given a break and reappeared over fences in October. Showed some decent form in that sphere without wining and now back over hurdles after being well held over them last time.

Fairly useful over hurdles and looks in good heart at the moment although the losing run is starting to look a little long now. Ran with credit at Uttoxeter last time at a similar trip (travelled well) but although he's back on his last winning mark the handicapper looks in control.

Had started to look as though he had got his act together over fences but he gradually slipped back into his sloppy jumping ways. Now returns from a long absence back over hurdles (11lb lower in this sphere than when last seen in it); well handicapped on his old form.

Looks to be progressing still over hurdles having won on her hurdling debut over 2m here in October. Ran well under a penalty last time out at Ludlow (returning from a poor run) and makes her handicap debut here for a yard that are going well at the moment.

Looked the sort to improve for handicaps and so it proved when he took one at Market Rasen on his debut at a big price; cheekpieces and heavy ground providing additional help. Not quite able to build on that last time off a quick return in a better class handicap and faces a similar task here.

Forecasts

Red Indian (4/5), Brillare Momento (3/1), Lady Karina (7/2), Itsnonofurbusiness (7/1), I See You Well (10/1), Sleepy Haven (20/1), Fairy Pol (20/1), Box Office (50/1)

Verdict

A good class race for the track and grade with some interesting sorts taking one another on and it should provide a competitive affair. The Ben Pauling yard are back in flying form after a quiet spell having won with their last four runners and RED INDIAN has already had his Lanzarote third franked and he sets the standard here. Two of the mares in the race Brillaire Momento and Lady Karina come into this having shown that they are capable of winning in this grade while the other mare – Fairy Pol can’t be totally ruled out coming from a yard that has been full of winners of late. Box Office is very well handicapped if he came back to form on his return to hurdles and he should be watched in the market with Itsnonofurbusiness another who must enter the equation.
  1. Red Indian
  2. Brillare Momento
  3. Lady Karina
