Two from two under rules after bumper successes at Perth and Newcastle in September and November, under a double penalty now as a result but wouldn't want to overlook claims.

Much-improved on second start when landing Sedgefield bumper as a 25/1 outsider in October, easily defied the penalty for wide-margin win back there in December and has potential to defy latest hike.
Flemensfirth gelding cost €22,000 as a three-year-old, before changing hands for £100,000 at four. Dam won bumper sole start. Well thought of and worth noting on first outing.

Fourth foal by Stowaway out of an unraced dam (Andreas Benefit). Cost €30,000 as a three-year-old, and represents respected connections who will no doubt be hoping that the long journey North is a profitable one. Notable newcomer.
Arakan gelding finished runner-up in an Irish point-point-point in June on sole outing. Wears a tongue tie on this first outing under rules and rider takes 10lb off. Worth a check on debut.

Aqlaam gelding makes debut here and has some potential on paper. One of two for trainer Brian Ellison in the line-up, check of the betting may reveal pecking order.
Kayf Tara gelding makes debut, yard have fair record in bumpers down the years, though only had seven runners over the previous 12 months in this sphere (one winner).
Cape Cross gelding cost 14,000 gns as a three-year-old, related to multiple winners and makes debut in useful contest. One of two for trainer, will need to be above average to make winning start.

Forecasts

Seddon (11/4), Chateau Marmont (3/1), Theatre Legend (10/3), Chanceanotherfive (6/1), Enlighten (6/1), Sai Kung Sing (14/1), Parker (16/1), Timesawaiting (25/1), Cpm Flyer (33/1), Mon Ami Bob (50/1)

Verdict

The betting will reveal more in terms of the newcomers here, with a few that should pique interest. Chateau Marmont changed hands for a hefty fee as a four-year-old and could be up to making an impact while Seddon is making a long journey north and is another worth paying attention to. Timesawaiting is under a featherweight with his riders' claim and completes the trio. They'll all need to go some to get the better of Chanceanotherfive and THEATRE LEGEND despite the double penalties on both. The former is two from two under rules and should go well but the selection is rapidly improving this season with two wins, easily defying his penalty at Sedgefield, and may be the answer once again despite going up in class.
  1. Theatre Legend
  2. Seddon
  3. Chanceanotherfive
