Useful over hurdles his chasing form so far has been a little in-and-out. Back on the up last time out at Taunton after a disappointment but did manage to throw the race away by idling close home.

Hard to say that his form over fences has done much to enhance his claims here and he faces a tough task at the weights. Well beaten last time out at Hereford and hard to make a case for him here.

Another one in the field who has failed to impress over fences so far and faces a stiff task here at the weights and would be off in a handicap. Looks to be struggling for his form at the moment.

Fairly useful over hurdles (won twice over them last year) and now given a second try over fences although he still looked an awkward ride. Took time to warm to his task in a C&D handicap last time (went in snatches) and needs a real test to be seen at his best.

Interesting newcomer over fences (won 3/8 in Irish point-to-points) and made a very promising debut over hurdles at Ludlow around a year ago (had the run of the race). Only other start came when 100/1 chance in the Albert Bartlett (ran with credit) and one to note in the market.

Had been showing useful form over hurdles with a win at Exeter and a second at Haydock before he ran poorly last time out. His point-to-point win came via a walkover but he does have some chasing relations in the pedigree; may do better over fences.

Surtee Du Berlaisb27

Showed the benefit of her initial experience over fences when 5th in a Listed chase at Newbury although she was still well off the form she reached over hurdles. Tried in a C&D handicap last time and finished last and can only be said to have underachieved over fences so far.

Verdict

ROLLING DYLAN was fairly disappointing when he ran at Haydock but he bounced back to something like his best last time out when taking second at Taunton and the reapplied cheekpieces may well help him finish his race off better this time around. Several of these have a stiff task at the weights and it may well be that a couple of chase debutantes in Step Back and Thomas Patrick are the main dangers with both having shown some useful form over hurdles. Souriyan has some decent form over fences but never looks an easy ride and he’ll need plenty of driving along here to have a chance at the finish.
  1. Rolling Dylan
  2. Step Back
  3. Thomas Patrick
