Made a winning debut over hurdles at Bangor (made all) when beating an odds-on favourite having shaped well in a couple of previous bumper races. Failed to follow-up his win at Taunton last time over 2m3f under a penalty although two late mistakes did rather hamper him.

The only other hurdles winner in the field he took a C&D novice on his debut having previously been a point-to-point winner. Found a Sandown Grade 2 rather too lofty company after that up in trip but failed back in a lesser grade at Plumpton when favourite last time.

Shaped relatively well on his debut here in a heavy ground bumper (probably needed the run) and shaped better than the distance he was beaten by (19L). Failed to build on that though on his first hurdles start at Wincanton (33/1 shot) and may well be one for the longer term.

Showed some fair form in bumpers (fair break between the two starts) and again was coming back from a long break when making his hurdles debut at Ludlow last month. More than likely that he would have needed that race (took strong hold) and better expected here.

From a yard that are in good form at the moment but his three starts so far can only be described as inauspicious. He did manage to complete last time (fell at the first time before) but was never travelling well and others make far more appeal.
Had looked fairly ordinary in two previous bumpers for two different yards but it proved a different story when making his debut still in bumpers for his current stable. Hooded for that run (got a good ride) and subsequently when beaten under a penalty; hurdles debut.

Managed to get placed in bumpers when trained in Ireland but hasn't matched that form in two runs for his current yard and never got involved on his hurdles debut at Taunton. Looks one for handicaps later on once he has a mark.
Two bumper starts and one hurdle run to his name so far and in all of them he's looked as though he's needed the experience. Clearly still learning he's best watched for now on his second start over hurdles.
Hard to say that her form in bumpers was that inspiring and her two hurdles runs have shown even less and finished well beaten last time out. Hard to recommend with little sign of any progress forthcoming.
Pulled-up on her hurdles debut at Taunton she showed very little ability and she's not one to have much faith in here.

Don't Ask (1/1), Marley Firth (9/4), Luckofthedraw (7/2), Desque De L'Isle (7/2), Billingsley (8/1), Marble Moon (33/1), Big Fred (66/1), Cobbler's Son (66/1), Russian Spy (66/1), Moynihans Girl (150/1), Celer Et Audax (150/1)

Verdict

Maybe not that much strength in depth here and DON’T ASK may well be able to get back on track here after a couple of late mistakes blighted his winning chance last time out. Marley Firth is the other hurdles winner in the field who carries a penalty for his debut win but he did disappoint last time out and needs to bounce back. There are one or two longer term prospects in this although the Venetia Williams debutante Desque De L’Isle is interesting having finished second on his hurdles debut when trained in France. Luckofthedraw makes his hurdles debut and he too could progress having shown more ability for this yard in bumpers.
  1. Don't Ask
  2. Desque De L'isle
  3. Marley Firth
