Hooded for his debut he got off to a perfect start over C&D just before Xmas showing lots of stamina to beat a more experienced rival. The yard are going well in bumpers this year and this looks their best bumper horse so far but he does have to defy a penalty here.
Beaten a fair way behind his stablemate Sao Maxence on debut the hood he wore then is retained for his second start. Looks a real stayer and should get closer to his stablemate this time but still has work to do at the revised weights.
Cost £35,000 as a three-year-old (first foal) and his dam is a bumper winner. Yard are 4/22 in bumpers this season and runs with a tongue-tie on debut; worth watching in the market.
Cost €40,000 as a three-year-old and remains a maiden in Irish point-to-points having had five outings (fell last time out). Now makes his Rules debut for connections who should be respected in bumpers; 5/8 in this sphere this season.
Went backwards from his debut when with Tom Lacey and hardly fared any better on his first run for his current yard over C&D on heavy ground. Finished well behind two of his rivals in that race and needs to improve to take a hand here.
Only cost €5,500 as a three-year-old with the dam a winning point-to-pointer. Failed to complete in two Irish point-to-points and others preferred here although the yard has had a couple of bumper winners this season.
Hooded for her debut she showed plenty of temperament on her debut beating just one home having been tailed off for most of the way. Looked a little more straightforward last time over C&D but has work to do with several rivals and needs a stamina test.
Forecasts
Sporting Press (7/4), Sao Maxence (15/8), Precious Cargo (9/2), Bullion (10/1), Storm Nelson (16/1), Taking Aim (25/1), Peak Of Beauty (50/1)
Following up under a penalty in a bumper can be difficult but SAO MAXENCE was an emphatic winner over three of these rivals on his debut and looks to have room for more improvement. Given that statement it may well be that the newcomers Precious Cargo and Sporting Press from yards that need respecting in this sphere that provide the most danger. Bullion was one of those well beaten by the market leader last time and he looks to be the best of the three that finished behind him.
- Sao Maxence
- Sporting Press
- Precious Cargo
